Perforation Skin Effect
Karakas and Tariq (1988) have
presented a semi-analytical solution
for the calculation of the
perforation skin effect, which they
divide into components:
the plane flow effect, sH;
the vertical converging effect, sV;
and the wellbore effect, swb.
The total perforation skin effect is
then sp= sH+ sV+ swb

Perforation Skin Effect
Using Karakas and Tariq (1988) model,
calculate the total perforation skin effect
for the following well data:
The well has well radius, rW= 0.328 ft
and is perforated with 2 SPF (Shots
per Foot),
perforation radius, rperf= 0.25 inches,
perforation length, lperf= 8 inches,
and perforation phasing of 120°,
and horizontal-to-vertical
permeability, kH/kV= 10
