Give an example of any organization, and give a brief history

of it?
The company is Starbucks

The history:
1970's
The first Starbucks opens. The name comes from Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, a
classic American novel about the 19th century whaling industry. The seafaring name
seems appropriate for a store that imports the world’s finest coffees to the cold,
thirsty people of Seattle.
1980's
Howard Schultz joins Starbucks in 1982. While on a business trip in Italy, he visits
Milan’s famous espresso bars. Impressed with their popularity and culture, he sees
their potential in Seattle. He’s right – after trying lattes and mochas, Seattle quickly
becomes coffee-crazy.
1990's
The demand for great coffee allows Starbucks to expand beyond Seattle, first to the
rest of the United States, then further a field. After becoming one of the first
companies to offer stock options to its part-time employees, Starbucks becomes a
publicly traded company
2000's
The Starbucks phenomenon continues. At the time of writing, Starbucks has more
than 15,000 locations across the globe. In addition to our excellent coffees and
espresso drinks, people now enjoy Tazo® tea and Frappuccino® ice blended
beverages.

Which grand strategy is the organization following?
The strategy that Starbucks is following is Combination strategy, because
Starbucks is growth company and in the same time is stability. It is Growth
because it trying to come up with new product every time for example trying to
sells sandwich, salad and many new things. Also, trying to open new stores with
good location and amazing designs that makes the customer feel relax in the
café and provided wireless Internet access to meet the needs of customers. In
addition, increasing sells of their product by sell it on the internet. It is also
partnered with other companies such as Pepsi. Stability because they focus on
the drinks coffee hot or cold and everyone knows how their coffees are amazing
because they focus on it and everyone hear about Starbucks the first thing come
up in their mind is coffee drinks.

What do you believe to be organization`s competitive

advantage?
Evolutionary changes in the industry by increase the milk or coffee price or
opened the same type of Starbucks. Starbucks shouldn’t change anything in their
product to be acceptable with their customer even if the prices increase and
about the other coffee that same as Starbucks they should try to show their
customer that they are the best. Also, I believe that Starbucks should sell their
product with low price to people who can’t pay to high price compare with other
coffees or restaurant by for example decrease the employee salary in order not to
decrease their income to. Also, they put strong rules for anyone stole their
recipes, their style and their logo. Furthermore they should not change their
supplier because any small change it will affect the product then of course it will
affect the customer.
