Activity Title : Triangle Congruence
Learning Target : Solves corresponding parts of congruent triangles
Reference(s) : Mathematics 8 Self-Learning Module, DepEd-Region XII, 2020, (M8GE-IIIf-1)
LAS Writer : Michael Roland G. de Mesa

Triangles are congruent if all corresponding sides and angles are congruent.
If we prove two triangles are congruent, we can state that any of their corresponding parts are
congruent. This property is known as “Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent” or
CPCTC.
1. ΔABC ≅ ΔADC
Solve for the value of x.

A
Solution:
5 x − 7=3 x +21 Equate two congruent sides
5 x − 7+7=3 x +21+7 Use Addition Property of Equality
5 x=3 x+ 28 Simplify
D C B 5 x+ (− 3 x )=3 x+28+(−3 x ) Use Addition Property of Equality
2 x=28 Simplify
2 x 28
= Divide both sides by 2
2 2
x=14

Activity: It’s Your Turn!

Direction: Set up and equation then solve for the variable. Write your answers at the back.
