New Server Installation
Overview
2
This section provides a list of materials and procedural steps required to install Xerox® FreeFlow® Print
Server software on a new server bearing (X7G, X0P, X1P) and (CW2, CZF,CZG) product codes. The
server is preloaded with Xerox® FreeFlow® Print Server software and must be configured for the
customer’s network.

Caution
• Check GSN library 14380 for any updates to this document.
• Review Read Before Starting in this document before proceeding. Locate the installation path based on
installation type. This section must only be performed for installation path 1.
• The date, time and time zone (default = UTC-05:00 EST) are set at manufacturing. Do not change the
date and/or time to an earlier date or time. This will result in an invalid 30-day grace license and a
permanent license will need to be installed. Change the time zone from the Windows taskbar to the
proper local value to achieve the correct time. Changing the time zone change will not affect the grace
license and the license will remain valid.

Required network speed for the T640

Caution
The Dell PowerEdge T640 is a server class machine and requires the onboard Ethernet ports be connected
to a 1 GB network speed or higher.

The external network (port 1 –Top) that connects to customer’s external network must be 1 GB or higher to
communicate correctly. If the network is slower than 1 Gb (10/100Mb) than the customer needs to provide
a switch/hub between the T640 and the network connection that runs at 1Gb and auto negotiates down to
the slower speed. These are readily available at most computer retailers and most auto-negotiate to slower
speeds

The internal network (port 2 –Bottom) that communicated to the print engine should not need any
adjustments as a 1 Gb switch is installed internally in the printer

Required Information
• Read Before Starting located at the beginning of this document.
• Server Installation Worksheets (from Getting Ready for the Xerox® FreeFlow® Print Server
Installation).

Windows security patches should not be installed unless they are actually needed. Xerox® FreeFlow® Print
Server Engineering will post a Security Bulletin containing a list of Critical patches that should be installed
at the Xerox.com/Security Product Support site. The same Bulletin will be pushed to anyone that subscribes
to an RSS Feed at that site. When a critical patch is needed, the customer may download and install it using
the Windows Update feature. Patches are planned to be deployed using the Xerox® FreeFlow® Print Server
Update Manager in a post launch software release.

If the customer’s Xerox® FreeFlow® Print Server DFE does not have connectivity to the Internet, then they
may request Service to install the patch. Security patches will be made available to Service through the
Xerox® FreeFlow® Print Server Customer Facing Organization (CFO) and the usual 2nd level support
channels. Ideally, the customer’s local Analyst can download the patches and use a USB flash drive to
install them.
