I will tell you about what a soap is and its saponification reaction

Soaps are sodium or potassium salts of fatty acids. They are manufactured from fats or oils or their
fatty acids, by treatment with a strong alkali or base

It is a reaction consisting of the hydrolysis in a basic medium of fats or lipids, which are broken
down into potassium or sodium salts (soaps) and glycerin, as shown below: ( A Tryglyceride with 3
molecules of sodium hydroxide that react to produce glycerin and 3 molecules of fatty acid salts)
