 Introduction
This Assignment is about the different names of Allah and Prophet (SAW) used
in the Quran with the reference of different verses in Quran. In the following
assignment Three names of Allah and three names of Prophet (SAW) are
explained in the light of Holy Quran.
 Names of Allah
Al-Khaliq
Verse #1:

Translation:
Such is Allah, your Lord! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Creator
of all things. So worship Him (Alone), and He is the Wakil (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian, etc.)
over all things.1

Verse #2:

Translation:

Say (O Muhammad SAW): “Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?” Say: “(It is) Allah.” Say:
“Have you then taken (for worship) Auliya’ (protectors, etc.) other than Him, such as have no power
either for benefit or for harm to themselves?” Say: “Is the blind equal to the one who sees? Or darkness
equal to light? Or do they assign to Allah partners who created the like of His creation, so that the
creation (which they made and His creation) seemed alike to them.” Say: “Allah is the Creator of all
things, He is the One, the Irresistible.2

Verse # 3:

Translation:
Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the Wakil (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian,
etc.) over all things.3

Explanation:
In the above verses the word Al-Khaliq is defined. The meaning of Al-Khaliq is “The Creator.” The
word explains that Allah is one and there is no other power but Allah. He is the owner of everything
and he knows everything. He is the creator of the universe and the heaven. We see that every
creature is created with beautiful art, adornments and in a perfect way. This creation shows us the
perfection of Allah’s name Khaliq. Allah is the sole creator of everything in the universe.

Al-Wahhab

Verse #1:

Translation:
(They say): “Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and
grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.”4

Verse #2:

Translation:
Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower.5

Verse #3:

Translation:
He said: “My Lord! Forgive me, and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any
other after me: Verily, You are the Bestower.” 6

Explanation:

The above verses describes the name Al-Wahhab. The meaning of Al-Wahhab is “The Bestower”. it
means The Bestower or The Grantor of all things.  Al – Wahhab is the one who continually bestows
gifts, favors, and blessings upon all of His creation. He bestows precious unconditional gifts upon
his worshippers without demanding anything in return, and without them having done anything
prior to the bestowal. He bestows upon them, out of love and affection for them. Someone who
bestows once is a bestower but he who bestows various gifts over and over again is “The Superb
Bestower”

Raheem
Verse # 1:
َّ ُ‫الر ْح ٰ َمن‬
‫الرحِي ُم‬ ِ ‫ه َُو هَّللا ُ الَّذِي اَل إِ ٰلَ َه إِاَّل ه َُو ۖ َعالِ ُم ا ْل َغ ْي‬
َّ ‫ب َوال‬
َّ ‫ش َهادَ ِة ۖ ه َُو‬

Translation:
He is Allah, beside whom none has the right to be worshipped but He, the Omniscient of the
unseen and the seen. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.7

Verse # 2:
َ‫سبَقُونَا بِاإْل ِ ي َم<<ا ِن َواَل ت َْج َع < ْل فِي قُلُوبِنَ<<ا ِغاًّل لِّلَّ ِذين‬
َ َ‫َوالَّ ِذينَ َجا ُءوا ِمن بَ ْع ِد ِه ْم يَقُولُونَ َربَّنَا ا ْغفِ ْر لَنَا وَإِل ِ ْخ َوانِنَا الَّ ِذين‬
‫آ َمنُوا َربَّنَا إِنَّكَ َر ُءوفٌ َّر ِحي ٌم‬

Translation:
And those who came after them [the Emigrants and the Helpers] say: "Our Lord! Forgive us
and our brethren who have preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts any hatred against
those who have believed. Our Lord! You are verily full of kindness, Most Merciful."8

Verse # 3:

َ <‫ض أَال إِنَّ هَّللا َ ُه‬

‫<و‬ ِ ‫س<تَ ْغفِرُونَ لِ َمنْ فِي اأْل َ ْر‬ َ ُ‫اواتُ يَتَفَطَّ ْرنَ ِمنْ فَ ْوقِ ِهنَّ َوا ْل َمالئِ َك< ةُ ي‬
ْ َ‫س<بِّ ُحونَ بِ َح ْم< ِد َربِّ ِه ْم َوي‬ َ ‫س َم‬َّ ‫تَ َكا ُد ال‬
‫ا ْل َغفُو ُر ال َّر ِحي ُم‬

Translation:
Nearly the heavens [through the Greatness of Revelation] might be rent asunder from above
them and the angels glorify the praises of their Lord [with gratitude], and ask for forgiveness for
those on the earth. Truly, Allah is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful. 9

Explanation:
The name describes the forgiving quality of Allah that he forgives our sins again and again. This
verses is about that Allah is most merciful and most beneficent. Al-Rahim refers to the expression
of Allah’s Mercy and its affects on Creation. We should bow ourselves before Allah because Allah
is most merciful. Ar-Raheem is the One who bestows His continuous mercy on all of creation and
who bestows even more grace and greater rewards in response to the good deeds of the believers.
