Conquest 2011

“Bowing to some suggestions from last year, I have decided to scale my

Tournaments (somewhat). With Minimize being 250 and unicon being 750
I’ve decided to bring Conquest back to 500 points allowing you to slowly
add to your armies throughout the year.

We have been successful throughout the years so hopefully this one will
not be any different.
I hope you’ll enjoy Conquest as much as I have enjoyed organizing it.

Good luck and happy painting”

 As some lists have been amended, please use the ones given in their relevant

rules manual, A Shadow in the East, The Fall of the Necromancer, Fellowship

can be included in your force.
 Only models from White Dwarf issues that have a relevant legion that they are
to be a part of may be used. The legion list they are with should be listed under
their rules, and you may only take them with other warriors from that list. Also
if you wish to field models from white dwarf they must bring a copy of the
issue they are in otherwise they may not be used.
 Conversions and proxies may be used, but you must tell your opponents what
they count as before the battle.
 Please try to make every effort to make your army “What you see is what you
get” (WYSIWYG), as it saves complications down the track.
 Only one Spider Queen may be taken per force.
 Tom Bombadil, Goldberry and Gollum may not be included in any force.

In addition to your army you must also bring 2 objective markers that tie in with your

scenarios that will be used will be scenarios number.... 3, 4, 6 and 8

At the start of each round a Score card will be placed on your table. At the end of the
game fill out the card accordingly and had it to the Tournament Organiser (TO).

Game Scores:
Up to 20 points per round. This is 80 points for the entire tournament.

Sportsmanship:
All players will score 4 points for sportsmanship unless the umpires decide that you
are behaving inappropriately. Some examples of inappropriate behaviours are:
Stalling for time, excessive complaining and cheating.

Painting:
Players will score 1 point for each of the following:
 The Army is painted.
 The Army has been painted very well. Highlights and shadowing has been
taken to the next step.
 Objective markers have been made and Painted on a 40mm or 60mm base.
 The Army has been based.
 The Army list has been displayed clearly and is easy to read.
Please note it is a club policy that all models must be at least undercoated. Any
models that are placed on the table unpainted or not undercoated will be immediately
removed from the table.

Army Rating:
Players will score between 0 and 1 point for their army selection. Your army will be
compared to all other armies in the tournament in 10 different selection categories.
This score is used as a tie breaker. The score will obtained as follows:
EG: Category 1- Number of models. The less models you take, the greater your score.
There are four players in the tournament.
 Player1 takes 30 models.
 Player 2 takes 50 models.
 Player3 takes 60 models.
 Players takes 70 models.
Player 1 has the least models. They receive 1 point for category 1.
Player 4 has the most models. They receive 0 points for category 1.
To calculate the score for players 2 and 3, the organisers will apply the following formula. 1-((Players
models)-(lowest number of models))/((highest number of models)-(lowest number of models)).
For Player 2 this would be: 1-(50-30)/(70-30)= 1- (20/40)= 1- 0.5- 0.5
For Player 3 this would be: 1- (60-30)/(70-30)= 1- (30/40)= 1-0.75= 0.25
The total of you r overall score is then divided by 100. (Produces a decimal number which is then used
for tie breaks).

Army Rating Catergories:

Category 1- Number of Models. The less models you take, the greater your score.
Category 2- Number of Legions of Middle-Earth army lists. The less lists you use,
the greater your score.
Category 3- Number of Named Characters. The less named characters you use, the
greater your score. The Spider Queen will count as two named characters for this
calculation.
Category 4- Number of Might. The less might you use, the greater your score.
Aragorn will count as having 8 might, Eorl will count as having 4 might, and
Taskmasters will count as having 3 might for this calculation.
Category 5- Number of Will. The less will you use, the greater your score. Wizards
that have rules that given them one addition point of will per turn will count as having
5 addition will points.
Category 6- Average Fight (rounded to the nearest whole number). The less average
fight you have, the greater your score.
Category 7- Average Defence (rounded to the nearest whole number). The less
average defence you have, the greater your score.
Category 8- Average Courage (rounded to the nearest whole number). The less
average courage you have, the greater your score. Each Hornblower will add 0.5 to
your average courage. Each Shaman will add 1 to your average courage.
Category 9- Average Movement (rounded to the nearest whole number). The less
average movement you have, the greater your score.
Category 10- Number of Shooting Weapons. The less shooting weapons you take, the
greater your score.
Rule Interpretations and Rule Disputes:
 If players have any rule interpretation problems or are unsure of a certain rule
please call for one of the tournament organisers. Judgements made by the
organisers are final and will not be argued further.
 DO NOT ask other players for their opinion on a rule, as they have their game
to play and you have yours. Any player caught interfering with other players
games will be penalized accordingly.
 All Measurements will be made in INCHES
 None of the Common Scenario-specific rules that are detailed in the main rule
book will be used unless the mission being played allows it (they will be
repeated anyway).
 Objectives count as impassable terrain. Models use the normal line of sight
rules for objectives.
 The Spectres special rule, „a fell light is on them‟ will be modified in the
following ways:
1. A Spectre may only use „A fell light is on them‟ during their own
movement phase, either immediately before their move, during
their move, or immediately after their move.
2. Models do not need line of sight to cast the power.
3. Targeted models may only be affected by the power once; however
they still may be targeted multiple times.
4. Models affect by the fell light still have control zones.
5. Models targeted may not be force to perform complex actions or
that cause direct harm.
6. Models may not be moved into combat.
 As some boards will included woods, woods will follow the following rules:
1. Any model shooting into a forest will have to pass an „in the way test‟
this also includes models shooting at other models who are in the same
wood.
2. If a model is touching the outside edge of the wood, they do not need
to take an „in the way‟ to shoot out, and they still count as having an
„in the way‟ between them and other models.
3. For a model to benefit from being in a wood they must have their base
fully inside the wood.
4. Models that have their base partially in the wood count as moving at
half speed.
 The Spider Queen, Shelob and Giant Spiders movement special rule will be
modified in the following ways:
1. None of Spiders may end their move on a building or similar terrain
feature.
2. They must have there base on the ground (in terms of the table) when
they enter a combat.
Design Note: the main reason for this rule so that we don’t have people
running the spiders up a wall and attacking on the way down. This is to
prevent models being vertical when they engage in combat and players
arguing where their base starts and ends. If you have any queries e-mail
me or ask me on the day.
Awards:
There are three awards up for grabs at the end of the day:
Overall Winner
Best Sportsman
Best Painted

The Overall Winner:

The Player with the highest overall points total will be award the Overall winner.

Best Sportsman:
At the end of the day each person will vote for Best Sportsman, the player with the
most votes will be awarded the Best Sportsman. Tiebreaks will be decided by battle
points.

During the Lunch break, players will set their army up on the table that they are
scheduled to play their next game. Players will have the chance to move around
