The blocks are actually the same

color. Your eyes see a shadow
and compensate by lightening
the color of the block.
Your eyes can only process so
much visual data. As your eyes
scan the image, your brain
creates data that does not exist.

Use TEMS™ Geobase to rank new or existing sites a

TEMS ™ GeoBase allows the user to quickly and easily analyze new
points or polygons, to compare the value of one potential site’s position
against another
Example
Operator acquires a new network consisting of 4,000 new sites.
• Which of the new sites should we keep?
• How can we rank the position of each of the new sites?
• What can you tell me about the areas the new sites cover?
• What is the potential revenue of each site?

Note*: In comparison, Tier 1 operator in U.S. Used TEMS Geobase to

evaluate value of 10,000 new sites against the 100,000 sites they already
owned

Example – US mobile operator i st

a

• In past the Mobile Network Operator in U.S spent about $8B per year on
their network, were looking for a way to make intelligent decisions on
investment dollars
• They already combine multiple data sources to calculate a scoring metric,
in order to rank potential cell-sites
• But this is manual process requires 8-10 people to work for almost 2
months
• Current process limits reporting of results to a quarterly cadence
• The proposed tool is as much about managing a process as it is about
analyzing data

Ranking Sites – using a Scoring Metric i st

a

Determining if a proposed site is better Fills a Coverage Hole

than another site is very complex.
Simplified it needs to solve a number of
parallel conditions. This demands that Fixes a Performance Problem
data is collected and combined from
various sources. High Population Area

However, gathering the data from multiple High Value Customers

sources isn’t the only problem. The
method needs to take into account High Value Area
estimated cell-site coverage (geographic
polygon). Today comparing geographic
polygons is something that is currently

Results achieved i st

►Tier1 MNO found that TEMS™ GeoBase enabled a

better understanding of network and customer base,
enabling improved CAPEX investment decisions by
organizing ALL data geographically, and applying unique
insight on the combined data set
• New Site Analysis: Decisions to place a new site based
on potential value. Changed decision making process
throughout company. In first year 40% less CAPEX spent.
• Network Merge Analysis: When combining 2 x RAN,
introduced a method to decide which sites to keep and
which to remove
• Utility Cost Analysis: Based on utility (electric) bills, and
traffic pattern, decide which sites can be turned off.
Indicated huge potential savings ( of $300M/year expense)
• Geo Revenue Analysis: Perform a geographic analysis of
network usage and customer income, to see where income
is actually generated
