Graduating student looking for a position at an elementary school where I can apply my practicum
teaching experience, literacy, differentiation, and Concept Based Curriculum and Instruction skills to
support student growth and success.

EDUCATION
SEPTEMBER 2019 – JUNE 2021
BACHELOR OF EDUCATION AFTER DEGREE, UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE
B.Ed. English Language Arts major. I completed two courses with a focus on inclusion:
Individualizing Instruction in the Regular Classroom (Universal Design for Learning), and
Behavioural Disorders. My last three courses were Science Curriculum and Instruction for Non-
Majors, Developing a Philosophy of Education, and Kiipaitapisinnoni I/II. I convocate in June,
graduating with Great Distinction, achieving a 4.0 GPA.

SEPTEMBER 2015 – MAY 2019


BACHELOR OF ARTS, UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE
B.A. English major with History minor. I completed courses in Ancient, Medieval, European,
Canadian, and Asian history, along with a variety of English courses such as Children’s literature,
Canadian literature, Postmodernism, and Rhetoric. I graduated with Great Distinction, achieving
a 3.93 GPA. Besides consistent placement on the Dean’s Honour Roll, I received various
academic scholarships: Jason Lang scholarship, James H. Gray Prize in Western History, Mary
Agnes Crow scholarship, and Louise McKinney scholarship.

PROFESSIONAL SEMESTER EXPERIENCES


SPRING 2021
PROFESSIONAL SEMESTER III, L.T. WESTLAKE FINE ARTS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
My internship took place at L.T. Westlake Fine Arts Elementary School in Taber, Alberta. I taught
grade 5 Language Arts, grade 4/5 Science, and grade 4/5 Social Studies. The focuses of my
internship included both Growth Mindset and inclusive education. I gained an in-depth
knowledge of Concept Based Curriculum and Instruction (CBCI) through my Professional Inquiry
Project, which investigated the integration of CBCI in the Language Arts classroom. I taught a
conceptual unit through Julie Stern’s ACT storyboard model and collaborated with Shea Mellow,
Horizon School Division’s Instructional Coach to gain insight into effective development of
conceptual thinking for students.

PROFESSIONAL SEMESTER II, ST. TERESA OF CALCUTTA SCHOOL & L.T. WESTLAKE FINE
ARTS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Prior to the COVID-19 cancellation, I taught grade 5/6 Language Arts and Religion at St. Teresa of
Calcutta School in Lethbridge, Alberta. I was introduced to Leader in Me practices, which
included the 7 Habits framework. St. Teresa focused on a team-teaching environment. I then
completed my second practicum at L.T. Fine Arts Elementary School in Taber, Alberta. I taught
grade 5 Language Arts, grade 4/5 Science, and grade 4/5 Social Studies. My professional
development focused on both Growth Mindset and classroom accommodations.

FALL 2019
PROFESSIONAL SEMESTER I, BARNWELL SCHOOL
I completed my first practicum within grade 1 in Barnwell, Alberta. I taught Language Arts, Social
Studies, Science, Mathematics, and Art. The elementary context allowed me to further my
understanding of the Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention System.

RELEVANT WORK/VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE


SUMMER 2019
ENGLISH TUTOR
I tutored English Language Learners in college English courses to improve their understandings of
language, textual decoding skills, and abilities to uncover meaning within a text. I worked with
my students to improve literary analysis for responses to both short stories and novels.

APRIL 2017 – AUGUST 2017


SUMMER LITERACY PROGRAM AND HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT, PALLISER
REGIONAL SCHOOLS
Primary responsibilities included leading literacy programs for elementary schools in Southern
Alberta. Central Office employees trained me in the Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy
Intervention System, including how to complete a running record, analyze record results, choose
texts, and run guided one-on-one guided reading sessions to improve comprehension. Other
responsibilities involved office work such as digitizing personnel files, program planning, and
assistance with planning Central Office events.

JUNE 2016 – AUGUST 2016


SUMMER LITERACY PROGRAM ASSISSTANT, PALLISER REGIONAL SCHOOLS
I collaborated with Central Office employees to coordinate literacy programs. I worked in two
elementary schools with elementary school students, facilitating activities to improve literacy.

VOLUNTEER SOCCER COACH, COALDALE AND DISTRICT SOCCER ASSOCIATION
I worked with children aged four to fourteen, planning practices, organizing game supplies, and
leading games. I was further responsible for communicating with both parents and members of
the board for Coaldale and District Soccer Association.
