RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS(Qualitative research)

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The aim of this study is to identify the impact of COVID-19 on education in the Philippines. This
main objective leads to the first hypothesis of this study which can be formulated as H1: COVID-
19 confinement has a significant effect on students’ performance. The confirmation of this
hypothesis should be done discarding any potential side effects such as students cheating in their
assessment process related to remote learning. Moreover, a further analysis should be done to
investigate which factors of COVID-19 confinement are responsible for the change.

A second hypothesis is H2: COVID-19 confinement has a significant effect on the assessment
process. The aim of the project was therefore to investigate the following questions:

Is there any effect (positive or negative) of the COVID-19 confinement on students’ performance?
Is it possible to be sure that the COVID-19 confinement is the origin of the different performance
(if any)?
What are the reasons for the differences (if any) in students’ performance?
What are the expected effects of the differences in students’ performance (if any) in the assessment
process?

collection will be conducted to 20% of the population of the students who are currently enrolled
in schools here in the Philippines. This study will also cover other problems that are considered
as one of the impacts of COVID-19. The students who are not currently enrolled in this academic
year (2020-2021) are not within the scope of this research. The study would be done through the
