PENN MANOR HIGH SCHOOL -- SCHOOL COUNSELING DEPARTMENT

UNDECIDED SENIOR SEMINAR


The School Counseling Department would like to introduce you to a four-part Senior Seminar series
presented to the Class of 2021. As this is your final semester as a high school student at Penn Manor, we
want to provide relevant job search skills and resources necessary for you to have a successful journey
beyond high school. If you don’t think you are interested in the linear four-year college pathway, become
an active participant in the Undecided Senior Seminar to learn about other options and career tools
available to you.

Overview
All four parts will be held at the high school in the school counseling office.
Exact days to be determined based on the number of RSVPs to maintain COVID protocols

Part 1 -- Week 1, Virtual Videos: #Adulting


- Students will learn how to create a professional email.
- Videos will be available for resume making and “pocket resume” creations.

Part 2 -- Week 2, Block 2 : Social Media Job Search


- Students will learn about how employers will search the internet for information on
potential employees.
- They will evaluate their social media and do a “clean up” of anything inappropriate.
- Utilizing PACareerzone.org, students will complete interest profilers, evaluate different
jobs and job descriptions and other companies they may be interested in.
- Students will complete a “scavenger hunt” to learn more about the key components of the
job that interests them.

Part 3 -- March 23rd and 25th, Block 4 : Post Secondary Training Resource Fair
- Come meet with professionals who will share short term post secondary training for
students including:
- Wire Mesh: a representative will be meeting virtually to discuss the different
employment opportunities they can provide to students.
- CareerLink: a representative will be giving students an overview of job search skills
and present the opportunity to work one on one with students to individualize their
career search journey. CareerLink is also available to work with directly now or after
high school.

Part 4 -- March 30th and April 1st, end of block 1 : Interview Workshop
- Career Link representatives will virtually walk students through their interview program as
well as key interview skills and how to connect to various interview resources.

Part 5 -- Individual Follow Up


- Students will be given the opportunity to schedule time with the career aide, intern, or
Career Link for further help with applications, job search, and any other assistance needed.
