DIAGNOSTIC REPORT

MRI CERVICAL SPINE

Multiplanar MR imaging of the cervical spine was performed using a phased-array spine coil and
large FOV.

Loss of cervical lordosis. The alignment of the vertebrae is normal.

Anterior marginal osteophytes are seen involving C5, C6 & C7 vertebral bodies.

Type 11 modic changes are seen involving adjacent anterior margins of C6 & C7 vertebral bodies. The
marrow within the vertebrae reveals normal signal intensity.

Desiccations are seen involving all the cervical intervertebral discs.

Minimal left postero-lateral disc bulge noted at C6-7 intervertebral disc causing ventral thecal sac
indentation, mild spinal canal compromise, minimal left neural foramina narrowing and minimal left
neural foramina narrowing. Effective spinal canal diameter measures 10 mm.

Rests of the intervertebral discs are otherwise normal. There is no significant disc bulge or herniation.

Spinal cord is normal in thickness and reveals normal signal intensity. No focal area of abnormal signal is
detected within the cord. No intraspinal mass lesion is detected.

The cranio-vencbral junction appears normal. There is no evidence of atlanto-axial dislocation, tonsillar
herniation or syringomyelia.

No abnormality is detected in the prevertebral region. The vascular structures are normal.

Bilateral posterior Para spinal muscles are normal in size and reveals normal signal intensity

Rest of the spinal canal measurements are within normal limits.

Lipoma of size 9 x 12 x 21 mm in transverse, antero-posterior and cranio-caudal axis respectively

noted along posterior surface of left lobe of thyroid gland.

IMPRESSION: MRI Cervical spine plain study reveals

1. Minimal left postero-lateral disc bulge noted at C6-7 intervertebral disc causing ventral thecal
sac indentation. Mild spinal canal compromise, minimal left neural foramina narrowing and
minimal left neural foramina narrowing.
2. Lipoma is seen along posterior surface of left lobe of thyroid gland.
