Staff Hiring Process

Based on the descriptions of the positions and leadership roles that need

to be filled, what 3-4 qualities are you looking for in a candidate?

The qualities that I will be looking for in candidates to fill these positions to ensure for a

successful stem program would be those who are able to work together with other teachers, able

to integrate subjects of math and science, plan for the use of digital technology, and to be

knowledgeable with using technology [ CITATION Bor15 \l 1033 ].

Who will sit on the interview committee? Will you use the same interview team for

all positions?

When conducting one of these interviews those who will be involved in the interview

process would be administration, two established members of the stem team. I will use the

individuals for all interviews for the stem team. I will use this because I believe that by having

members of the team present will help better prepare and look for the qualities needed to be a

leader on the stem team.

Are there positions you will try to fill prior to others?

There will be an order to what positions I will fill first. The positions that I plan to fill

first would be for the higher grades and work my way down to the lower grades. I will do this

because the students in higher grades will be creating projects that are much more in depth than

those students that are in the younger grades and will need a different type of leadership than the

younger students will need. Some of the older students will already have an idea of what the

stem team is all about, where members in the younger grades may not.

Identify 4-5 questions you plan to use in the interview. Will you include any

performance or behavior focused questions?

Some questions that I will as in my interviews would be; what does success look like to

you as a teacher? How do you know kids are learning? Where do you get your lesson ideas? Will

you explain a technology skill lesson you have taught? And Why did you choose teaching as a

career? I will be including performance and behavior questions in the interview such as; How do

you handle disruptive students? If a student is having a problem in stem work how do you plan to

help them? A student seems to be unmotivated, what will you do to encourage their motivation?

I will ask these questions because it will give me an idea as to where the interviewees skill set is

at and the behaviors he or she will expose while in different situations with students, parents, and

other teachers [ CITATION Beh21 \l 1033 ].

Identify 3-4 legalities you will have to take into account when completing the hiring

process. How will these legalities affect your decision-making? Describe actions you might

take to address these issues.

Some legalities that I will have to take into account when completing my hiring would be

if the person for hire has any legal issues on their past or present, what they are and what degree

the action is. Has the person for hire had any charges of child endangerment or neglect, or does

the person for hire have any type of drug charges that they have been or will be convicted of.

These legalities will affect my decision making because of they have any of these outstanding

legal dilemmas I will not be able to hire them and will have to look into other candidate that are

suitable for the job position. Some actions I would take to address these issues would be to have

the person for hire go for a background check and then discuss with them what was on the

background check and why I am no able to hire them for the position that is available

[ CITATION Hin \l 1033 ]. Some other legal factors that can be considered would be other

federal laws that may be related to teacher selection such as the basic sex, health, and disability.

How will your decisions align with the Christian values of promoting human

flourishing, compassion, and concern for the common good

My decisions will align with the Christian values of promoting human flourishing,

compassion, and concern for common good by being strait forward in what I am looking for in

an employee, what is expected of them in the job position, being willing to work with problems

that they may have that will not interfere with their work performance, having compassion with

them on situations that they share with me that they have been through in their past, and creating

an environment for them to share what they know in their teaching s as well as giving them

opportunities to grow.
