Essential Understanding

Each person has different ideas about what is important and what makes them feel best. Making my
own choices about the things I do is very important because it gives my life meaning. Making choices
about what is important to you helps you be more independent and in charge of your life.

VI. Summative Assessment

Activity 1.

I am free because…

1. I have the ability to do as I chooses.

2. I am not anyone’s slave.
3. I am able to commit and think by myself
4. I am conscious of what I’m doing and accepts the physical act I commit.
5. I have the ability to control and hold power over my life.

As a free person, I must…

1. Commit acts with self-consciousness and responsibility.

2. Accept that no matter how free I am death is unescapable.
3. Remember that I still have no control over certain aspects of life.
4. Acknowledge the consequences of my actions.
5. Be accountable of my actions and choices.

Activity 2. Answer Me!

1. The choice of doing nothing can either be valid or invalid. It is only valid when you have to do
nothing in order to avoid further arguments or fights which actually do not lead to anything
beneficial but doing nothing when somebody needs help is absolutely unacceptable.
2. Self-reflection requires deep and prolonged thinking. Thus, decisions that are well-thought out
rationally tend to be more sustainable. Decision-making is not a easy process especially at high
stakes. The important thing to note is that, our freedom to make choices shouldn't be taken for
granted, so we should dedicate time to self-reflect over them.
