Centre for Environmental Law

Introduction to the Centre


The University aims to make rapid progress towards its dream of achieving
excellence in the field of legal education and establishing Centre for
Environment Law is just one step in that direction.

The Centre aspires to become one of the pioneers in the field of enviro-legal
research in India by discussing issues of contemporary relevance with and
among the academicians, scholars, advocates, students and other
stakeholders interested in this area. The Centre would also promote
environmental education, awareness and advocacy by becoming an
epicentre of knowledge dissemination in the field of environmental law.

Objectives of the Centre


 To spread environmental education that is not restricted to the
boundaries of the University;
 To analyse governmental policies, legal interventions and judicial
decisions in the field of environmental law;
 To conduct specialized and inter-disciplinary research and publish
valuable articles and research papers that will enrich the existing
knowledge in this field;
 To spread awareness and sensitize the masses about environment
issues;
 To organize various events and conduct programmes that will help the
Centre to meet its objectives;
 To collaborate with other Environmental Law Centres, research
institutions like NEERI and other governmental and non-
governmental organizations across India.
