Automatic Schockable Rhythm Detector

MARD ®

MARD ®
INTRODUCTION:

MARD (Monitor Automático de Ritmos Desfibrilables) Automatic Schockable

Rhythm Detector is an automatic device designed to detect those shockable ECG
signals.

MARD is a micro-controlled device that receives up to +/- 10V signal from cardiac
monitors and interprets its waveform.

When a defibrillable rhythm is found, MARD indicates to medical personnel by

an audible sound and a light indication. Patient medic responsible sees actual cardiac
waveform on bed patient´s monitor and decides if an electric shock is required to apply
to patient.

MARD algorithm has a demonstrated sensitivity above 97,5% and specificity

above 96,8% using MIT databases.

MARD recives ECG signal from any ECG acquisition device and process it. It has
two levels of signaling, WARN when signal is suspected to be defibrillable and ALARM
when detects fibrillation or rapid ventricular tachycardia. There are two tones that
provide audio signaling of both.

MARD ® VALIDATION

ECG signals are sent to MARD by means of a PC controlled signal generator.

Using MIT signals, recognized doctors give us diagnosis. Applying these signals to
MARD devices MARD response is compared to known ECG diagnosis.
Then sensitivity and specificity is calculated.

MARD® working. A fibrillation ECG signal is sent from ECG simulator.
