TOPIC: Sample Size and Sampling Design in Research

The topic is all about sample size and sampling design in research wherein a
sample size is the number of participants or observation included in a study in
which there are two ways of finding the sample size. Fist, through literature or
published tables of sample selection second, sample size determination formula by
identifying the level of confidence, degree of variability of subjects and margin of
precision of error lastly, sample size calculation of software. Throughout the
discussion I learned that the more representative the sample of the population, the
more confident the researcher can be in the quality of result. It is important to
perform a sample size calculation, to ensure that correction factors can be
estimated with sufficient precision.
I’ve learned the set of sampling design wherein I can already I identify the
different sample design in which there are two components; the random sampling
and non-random sampling method. Random sampling design include: simple
random sampling, systematic random sampling, stratified random sampling, cluster
random sampling and multi- stage random sampling while the non-random
sampling includes: convenience sampling, purposive sampling, quota sampling and
snowball sampling. I hope with the knowledge I’ve learned I can already recognize
the appropriate research design should be used in making our proposed research or
in our future research because sampling yields significant research result.
However, with the differences that can be present between a population and a
sample, sample errors can occur. Therefore, it is essential to use the most relevant
sampling design.

This topic is every important because it thought as how to find the sample
size to gather data from a sample population to make sure that it gives a result that
will be reliable and creditable and selecting the sampling design to be use, in which
we can use in our future research study.
