ABSTRAK
Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is a seasonal to years’ plantthat included in the Solanaceae
family. Eggplant become the vegetables that are a lot of in demand because it has the benefits quite a
lot. In West Sumatra, the central of vegetables cultivationare in Nagari Aie Angek X Koto Subdistrict
of Tanah Datar District. One of the causes of the decline in the production of Eggplant because of pests
and diseases is often called PPO (Plant Pest Organisms). One pest that attacks the plant of eggplant is
Bemo’s Beetles (Epilachna vigintioctopunctata F.). These pests attack the leaves of the eggplant by
eating the lower surface of the leaves on the mesophyll tissue which can cause serious damage in the
form of scratch so that the leaves become thin and dry which will result in disruption of the process of
photosynthesis and which will result in decreased of the production. Therefore, it has done a research
about the Intensiveness Population of Bemo’s Beetle (Epilachna vigintioctopunctata F.) on Plant of
Eggplants (Solanum melongena L.) In Nagari Aie Angek X Koto Sub district of Tanah Datar District
in October 2015. This study uses Descriptive Survey method, that is direct collection of E.
vigintioctopunctata F. from Nagari Aie Angek X Koto Subdistrict of Tanah Datar District. The
sampling technique used in this research is random sampling, the sampling was conducted randomly.
Samples were taken by using hand sorting (catch by hand). The result of this research are the
population of E. vigintioctopunctata F. in eggplant plants are 529 individuals with anintensiveness of
3.67 individuals/rod. In the larval stage gained as much as 105 individuals with anintensiveness of 0.73
individuals/rod, while the imago phase obtained as many as 424 individuals with anintensiveness of
2.94 individuals/rod. Environmental factors at the time of the study that arethe average air temperature
is 27°C, the average of the humidity is 75%, and the average of wind speeds ranging between 1,2 - 1,6
m/s.
