About the Author

New York based artist Carole Feuerman is amongst the most prolific members of the hyper
realistic movement that began in the late 1970’s, and continues well into the present. Her
illustrious career is highlighted by iconic figurative works of swimmers and dancers, such as
Catalina and The General’s Daughter. She has taught, lectured, and given workshops at
the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Solomon Guggenheim museum. 

In 2011, the author founded the Carole A. Feuerman Sculpture Foundation. Her artworks are
owned by eighteen museums. They are also in the collections of the City of Peekskill New York,
the City of Sunnyvale California, Feuerman’s public works have been displayed across the
globe. She lives in New York City and is the wife of Ronald Cohen, and the mother of Lauren
Leahy, Sari Gibson and Craig Feuerman. She has six grandchildren: Hannah Leahy, Sam Leahy,
Isla Feuerman, Kai Feuerman, Waverly Dantus, and Luna Dantus.

struggles that arise in the journey of a woman fulfilling her true calling. As one of the pioneers of
the hyper realistic art movement of the seventies, Feuerman recalls her role in the art world, and
how throughout the high and low tides of her life, art has been her saving grace.
