Andres Bonifcaio Day is celebrated on November 30 which is his birthday and not on his
death like Dr. Jose P. Rizal Day which is the date of his death (December 31), because he
was killed by his fellow revolutionists and not by colonizers.

Week 2

The term ​Pearl of the Orient/Pearl of the Orient Seas ​wasn’t first used by Dr. Jose Rizal. It
was first coined by Fr. Juan J. Delgado in 1759, a spanish Jesuit missionary. This name was
used in Rizal’s poem Mi Ultimo Adios.

Week 4

The revolution in Latin America against their colonizers happened earlier compared to the
Philippines since it was heavily influenced by the French and American Revolution. The
revolution in Latin America happened around the late 18th century until early 19th century
while in the Philippines it started late 1800s. In Latin America slavery was abundant they
wanted control over their own to have independence. For the Philippines, the inequality
between the Spaniards and the natives, the revolution was a result of small revolts against
the Spaniards. There was a realization of how unfair the system of the church was.
