Chapter 1: Introduction
a Respondent background
The first step to do is to decide the respondent, there will be 3 respondents that
will be interviewed where each of the respondents give response on what they need,
what they like and what they don’t like of a power bank.
Respondents are the student of MBA ITB YP63C syndicate 11 which is an
active student. Daily, they use smartphone in daily activities and studying. Therefore,
writer do some interview to some person related to the needs of power bank in
supporting daily activities.
Respondents consist of man and woman with different intensity of using
smartphone. So, the need of charging smartphone also vary, so writer will take
response from those respondents.

b Empathize
From the interview done, some important points of the respondents need
regarding power bank got. The points are like in emergency situation, playing games,
studying and daily life. So, respondents need power bank that can be carried
everywhere and will have good charging.
Respondents feels that power bank is taking space too much and hard to carry
it everywhere. Power bank doesn’t have any feature that support phone that is in use
like playing games or daily activities. Respondents have more than 1 smartphone and
it’s hard to charge when the power supply is in use so it is hard to charge.
c Define
After the interview, writer found some problems in dimension and its
convenience in using power bank in daily activities. Due to the respondents’ activity
that is very busy, it made the respondents need power bank that can be anywhere and
anytime.
The power bank has more than 1 plugs because the respondents also has more
than 1 smartphone and the power bank also has many clips to hold the smartphone
and to make them convenience when play the phone. While the other feature of the
power bank that is expected by the respondent is wireless charging to ease them while
charging.
Chapter 2: Idea generation
a Ideate
The idea is the power bank can be carried anywhere, easy to store and has
features to help daily activity of the users like playing game, study and many more
and also having other features like wireless charging and many plugs.
The name of this product is Power Smart which indicate the power bank that
easy to use, easy to store and convenience when use it. This power bank is not out to
date.
b Prototype
This is the design draft of the power bank:

Figure 1 Draf Prototype

In this prototype, it describes the shape of power bank that has 2 shapes that
can be folded into a square and opened again to be a rectangle in purpose to ease it to
store and to carry. This power bank also has many hangers so it will be easy to be
hangered and to apply some accesoris to beautify it. This power bank has some clips
to hold the phone while using the power bank and to convenience the user more.
Chapter 3: Iteration
a Discussion on the iteration process
The first step to do is finding the need statement from the respondend where
we get the need statement from the customer statement that we interviewed. This is
the need statement that we got from the respondent:
Table 1 Need Statement
Need Statement
Produk mudah disimpan
produk memiliki banyak colokan
Produk dapat digantung
produk wireles charging
Produk memiliki penjepit smart phone
produk portabel
Produk memiliki warna yang menarik
Produk mudah diperbaiki

After we got the need statement, we define the matrices from this need
statement where it will be used to decide the priority of our product innovation to be
developed. This is the result of the matrices with its specification:

From the matrices we got, the next is to simplify what we will choose to
compare between need statement and the matrices we got. This matrices is to know
our scale of priority in developing a product. To get the the priority, writer use the
method of house of quality (HOQ). This is the matrices:
Table 3 Matrices
No Metrik Unit

2 panjang produk cm
3 lebar produk cm

After defining the proximity between matrices, then we made the HOQ table
to decide the innovation priority to be done. This is the HOQ table:

From the table above, we know that the most important innovation to fulfill
customer satisfaction is the amount of assembled parts where to made a portable
product that ease to be carried needs innovation at its assembled part. The second one
is the variation of charging method available like having many plugs and a wireless
charging feature. From those, we are doing the innovation on the chosen parts.
Meanwhile, for the dimension itself is in the third place to ease the power bank to be
stored and carried/
Chapter 4: Conclusion
a Final sketch design
After knowing the important part to be done from HOQ, writer implement it
into a simulation software and here, writer use SolidWorks 2018. Here is the result of
it where a smartphone can be used even while charging. Meanwhile, the features of
the power bank is having wireless charging feature and a lot of USB port. From the
size itself, this power bank is not too big and can be folded so it can be folded and
portable to be carried or even hangered.
This is the 3D picture render of this power bank:

Figure 2 Power Smart (1)

From picture above, the power bank has a small dimension but having more
than 1 ports and also a hanger to ease the user to carry it. This power bank also has a
holder to hold the phone.

Figure 3 Power Smart (2)

From the picture above, if we open the power bank, the phone can be placed
on top of this power bank. Power bank will hold the phone by its holder when the user
uses their phone. It shows also that this power bank has the wireless charging features.
