Nebraska’s first state park, Chadron was established in 1921. Located 9
miles south of Chadron on U.S. 385, more than 1.000 acres of natural
beauty nestle in the scenic Pine Ridge and offer visitors varied recreation
and relaxation. Altitude approaches 5,000 feet in places, which means
relatively cool evenings, even on hot days.
LODGING
There are 22 two-bedroom housekeeping cabins with kitchenettes
and baths with showers. They are equipped with stoves, refrigerators,
silverware, dishes, cooking utensils, bedding, soap and towels. All
cabins have air conditioning, heaters, picnic tables and fire grates. A few
have fireplaces. Campers will enjoy the modern, 70-pad campground,
complete with 30 amp electrical hookups, showers, dump station, laundry
facilities, picnic tables, grills and playground for the kids.

MINIMUM STAYS
Camping - Campers may not occupy a campsite for more than 14
consecutive days. Minimum stay is 1 night.
Cabins - 2-night minimum stay required, however one-night reservations
are available when the one night falls between reservations or for walk ins.
PAYMENT PROCEDURES
Payment in full is required at the time the reservation is made. There is a
non-refundable $7 (plus tax) reservation fee per lodging unit, campsite or
facility. Payment may be made by Visa/Mastercard, check, money order
or cash. A credit card is required for online reservations. Payment in full
is required within 10 calendar days of making reservation when paying
by check and when reservation is made more than 30 days ahead of your
arrival. Payment must be received at the park within 10 calendar days of
making the reservation or reservation will be canceled.
CANCELLATION
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to the park where
your reservation is being held or guests may go online and cancel their
lodging or camping reservation under their Account.
Partial Cancellations: On year-to-date reservations, canceling dates from
the beginning dates of a reservation is not allowed and is non-refundable
at any time.
Cabins & Day Use Group Lodge: Reservation fee per unit is not refundable.
• Less than 30 days prior to arrival date = refund, minus a 1 night’s rental
per unit being cancelled and cancellation fee of $5 per unit.
• 30 days or greater prior to arrival date = refund minus a cancellation fee
of $5 per unit.
Camping Sites / Picnic Shelters: Reservation fee per unit is not refundable.
• Less than 7 days prior to arrival date = refund, minus a 1 night’s rental
per site/unit being cancelled and cancellation fee of $5 per site/unit.
• 7 days or greater prior to arrival date = refund minus a cancellation fee
of $5 per site/unit.
CHECK IN & OUT SCHEDULE
If you check out early, the unused portion of your payment will be forfeited.
Cabin - Checkout time is 11 a.m. and every effort is made to have lodging
available by 4 p.m.
Camping - Checkout time is 2 p.m. and every effort is made to have the
campsite available by 4 p.m.
SEASON
Cabins are open from mid-April through mid-November, however
dates are subject to change. Camping is open year-round, with modern
facilities open from mid-April to mid-November.
SHELTERS
The park also has five picnic shelters, which may be reserved up to a year
in advance at $40 per day or $50 per day with electricity.
PARK ENTRY PERMIT
A current Nebraska Park Entry Permit is required for all vehicles entering
the area. Annual and daily permits are available at the park office, any
Game and Parks Commission staffed facility, and from hunting/fishing
permit vendors, or online at OutdoorNebraska.org.

ACTIVITIES
(Available Memorial weekend through Labor Day)
Trail Rides - $15 per person per ride. Riders must be 6 years of age.
Rides are scheduled at 9, 10 & 11 a.m. and 1, 2 & 3 p.m. Tickets are
available at the park office.
Paddleboats - $5 per half-hour for 2-person boat & $8 per half-hour for
4-person boat. Rides are available 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Get tickets at the park office.
Swimming Pool - Pool is open from 1-8 p.m. daily from Memorial weekend
to mid-August and weekends only from mid-August through Labor Day.
Admission is $4 for adults (age 13 & up) and $3 for children age 3-12.
Children age 2 & under are free and must be accompanied by an adult. Ask at
office about Season Pass: $65 for adult; $45 for child or $120 for family.
Trading Post - Snacks, souvenirs, crafts, black powder demonstrations
and archery (when staff available), and horseshoes. Menu includes: Hot
dogs, sloppy joes, polish dogs, nachos, potato chips, ice cream, popcorn,
candy and soft drinks.
Sports Equipment - Volleyballs, tennis rackets and balls may be rented at
the park office.
PERMITS & LICENSES
All park entry, small game hunting, fishing and resident fur harvest
permits and Wildlife Habitat and Aquatic Habitat stamps are available
any time during regular office hours. Big game and wild turkey permits
are available as set by Commission regulation.
