Presente simple

He, She and It


Hi everybody!
This time we are going to study the simple present tense with “He, She
and It”. Let’s start.

Affirmative Form
It is formed as follows: Subject + Verb – S + Complement

He works in London. 
She reads books. 
It drinks a lot of milk.

When the verb ends in -ss -x -sh -ch -o we add “es” to the verb.

For example: He fixes his car on weekends.


She goes to the mall on Saturdays.
Mr. Rodriguez kisses his daughter every day.

Negative Form
It is formed as follows: Subject + does not (doesn’t) + Verb + Complement

He doesn’t work in Peru. He lives in the USA.


She doesn’t play tennis. 
It doesn’t eat fish.
Presente simple

Interrogative form:
Yes/No questions:
It is formed as follows: Does + Subject + Verb + Complement?

Does Tom work in London?


Does Rita study English? 
Does the dog run fast?

How do we answer:
Q Does Tom work in London? Q Does Rita study English?
A Yes, he does. He works in London. A Yes, she does. She studies English.
No, he doesn’t. He works in Liverpool. No, she doesn’t. She studies Portuguese.

Q Does the dog run fast?


A Yes, it does. It runs fast. / No, it doesn’t. It runs slowly.

We can also form WH questions as follows:

When does your pet take a nap ?
Where does he work ?
How does she get to work?

How do we answer:

Q When does your pet sleep? Q Where does he work?


A It takes a nap in the afternoon. A He works in a hotel.
