PROPERTY INUSRANCE LITIGATION

• From October-December 2020, there were almost 21,000 property insurance lawsuits reported to the
Department of Financial Services’ Service of Process Unit.

• For that 3 month period, spanning 92 days that included the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year
holidays, at least:
o 34 attorneys filed more than 100 lawsuits
o 17 filed more than 200 lawsuits (2 of whom are paralegals, not attorneys)
o 10 filed more than 300 lawsuits
o and 7 filed more than 400.
