Choose 4 companies from the list above and explain/illustrate the following (25 points per
company):
a. Industry / Company Overview (4 points per company)
Provide the history prior to the BOS move.

b. Customer Pain Points (4 points per company)


The pain points that you need to identify in this section must be addressed/solved by the company
as you identify your ERRC below.

c. Strategic Move (3 points per company)


This must be clear. Explain briefly and simply how the company will create a new value curve for
a new and untapped market.

d. ERRC Grid (6 points per company)


Explain the features and focus that the company will eliminate, reduce, raise and create.

e. Strategy Canvas (6 points per company)


Illustrate and properly label the strategy canvas of the industry/product/customer that you are
comparing your new value curve.

f. Identify the path taken by the company and explain how it broke the conventional market
boundaries to spot BOS opportunities (2 points per company) by:
i. Industry – identifying the 2 alternative industries
ii. Strategic Group – identifying the captured segment and the distinguishing profiles/key
characteristics of that particular segment
iii. Buyer Group –identifying the “before” and “after” type of buyers that you are pursuing.
iv. Scope of Product Offering – identifying where and how consumers availed of the different
products/services (prior to the BOS) that were consolidated by the company as its strategic
BOS move.
v. Functional/Emotional – identifying the orientation of the company “before” and “after”
the BOS move.
vi. Time – identifying the trend that the company embraced.

BONUS (5 points):
Explain the main considerations when creating the ERRC Grid. How does one qualify what
factors/values to place for each of the component of the grid (i.e. eliminate, reduce, raise and create)?
From whose point-of-view should be considered for each of these quadrants? Explain your answer
thoroughly.

Submission Guidelines:
1. The assessment should be formatted as follows:
• PDF only, A4 size
• Use line spacing of 1.5 lines.
• Set page margins as 1” for all sides.
• Font should be size 11, Times New Roman.

2. Header must contain the following:


• Left side: COST 201-A, AY 2020-2021.
• Right side: [#]Exam (e.g. 1Exam)

3. Footer must include the following


• Center: Last name, First name (Student #) [e.g. Cruz, Liezel (2018-18018)]

4. File format.
The file should be saved and submitted with a label following this format: Surname, [#]Exam (e.g.
Cruz, 1Exam). Please submit your output on or before the due date to the appropriate submission
box on Google Classroom.

5. Late submissions and extensions


Outputs submitted after the due date will receive a late penalty of only 50% of received grade for up to
five (5) days. Outputs submitted more than five calendar days after the due date will receive 0%.
