Learning Competency : Discuss the relevance of the course and explore job opportunities for
entrepreneurship as a career.
Activity Title :Definition of Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneur
Learning Target :Increase knowledge about entrepreneurship, and determine the
relevance of Entrepreneurship to everyday life and to the society as a
whole.

Concept Note:
Entrepreneurship has been defined as the act of creating a business or businesses while
building and scaling it to generate profit. It is also an important driver of economic growth and
innovation. Entrepreneurship is one of the resources economists categorize as integral to
production; the three resources are land/natural resources, labor and capital. (wwww.

An entrepreneur is a person who sets up a business with the aim to make a profit and
creates a new business, bearing most of the risks and enjoying most of the rewards. An
entrepreneur combines these three to manufacture goods or provide services, They typically
create a business plan, hire labor, acquire resources and financing, and provide leadership and
management for the business. An entrepreneur is an innovator, a source of new ideas, good ,
services, and business/ or procedures.
An enterprise is created by an entrepreneur. The process of creation is called

Studying entrepreneurship benefits students and learners from different social
economic backgrounds because it teaches people to cultivate unique skills and think outside
the box. Moreover, it creates opportunity, instills confidence, ensures social justice and
stimulates the economy.
