1 Overview
1.1 Introduction
The Raisecom OPCOM100 series, developed on the basis of Wavelength Division
Multiplexer (WDM), include the multiplexer/demultiplexer, add/drop device, and single-dual
fiber converter. The OPCOM100 features high capacity. Independent of services, it can
transmit services transparently. By using the OPCOM100, you can increase communication
capacity and bandwidth to solve the problem of inadequate fiber resources, thus providing a
convenient, flexible, and low-cost solution for network access providers.
1.1.2 Types
The OPCOM100 adopts a passive design and complies with carriers' standards in structure
and dimensions, so it can be widely applied to carriers' networks. It can be installed in the
outdoor Optical Distribution Frame (ODF), fiber optic cross connection box, and Raisecom
fixing panel or cabinet. The Raisecom fixing panel or cabinet can hold devices that comply
with the structure, thus providing compact installation and saving space in the equipment
room.

services in a fiber. The wavelengths at the client side are 1271 nm, 1291 nm, 1311 nm,
1331 nm, 1351 nm, 1371 nm, 1391 nm, 1411 nm, 1431 nm, 1451 nm, 1471 nm, 1491 nm,
1511 nm, 1531 nm, 1551 nm, 1571 nm, 1591 nm, and 1611 nm.
Be completely transparent to service signals and thus support transmitting services at any
rate.
Be of good optical performance indexes, such as low insertion loss, high isolation, and
high stability and reliability, without deteriorating transmission quality of optical signals.
Be passive, and support plug and play without configurations, thus simplifying
maintenance.
Support point-to-point networking or similar networking as that of the OPCOM100-
OMU12-LU.
Adopt the carrier-grade plastic plug-in encapsulation structure, and support being
inserted into the PB16 for outdoor use.
Be of small size and easy installation, occupy 2 slots, and adopt the LU/UPC optical
interface.
3.12.4 Interfaces
Adopt the LC/UPC interface on the front panel, with the single-mode fiber as the
transmission medium.
Adopt a single fiber to transmit multiplexed optical signals on the line-side optical
interface.
The client-side optical interface needs to be connected to optical modules of the BBU
and RRU.
– Each interface transmits 2-wavelength signals with two LC connectors (upper and
lower).
– At the BBU side, connect the upper LC connector to the Rx direction of the optical
module. Connect the lower LC connector to the Tx interface on the optical module;
namely, the Tx wavelength of the optical module must be the same as the wavelength
of the lower LC connector (second wavelength printed on each interface).
– At the RRU side, connect the upper LC connector to the Tx direction of the optical
module. Connect the lower LC connector to the Rx interface on the optical module;
namely, the Tx wavelength of the optical module must be the same as the wavelength
of the upper LC connector (first wavelength printed on each interface).
The OPCOM100-OMU18-LU supports connecting to the 1.25, 2.5, or 10 Gbit/s optical
module, which requires the Tx wavelength and rate of optical modules at the BBU side and
RRU side to be the same.

4 Fiber converter
The fiber converter (PSDU) of the OPCOM100 can convert single fiber into dual or four

This chapter describes how to install the PSBU, and precautions, including the following
sections:
Precautions
Installing device
Maintenance
5.1 Precautions
When installing the device, pay attention to the following matters:
The device contains precise optical instruments, so it should be prevented from severe
shock during transport and installation.
Choose the FOX properly with the same surface as that of the optical interface. Failing
to do this may result in deterioration of transmission performance.
When connecting or removing the fiber, note laser safety. Do not stare into the optical
interface or fiber end with eyes or through an instrument to prevent eye injury.
Clean the surface of the fiber before connecting it. Using a contaminated fiber increases
link loss, impacts transmission quality, and even permanently damages the optical
interface; this also generates strong reflected laser at the conjunction point of the fiber,
which severely interferes with transmission of useful signals.
Use a dustproof cover to cover the idle optical interface to prevent dust from entering
and laser from going out.
Installation steps
Take 3U panel of the OPCOM100-OMU6-SU (B) for example. Install the OPCOM100 in it
as below:
Step 1 Confirm the slot to install the OPCOM100.
Step 2 Pull out the two pull pins from the OPCOM100, as shown in Figure 5-1.
Figure 5-1 Pulling out the two pull pins from the OPCOM100
Step 3 Align the OPCOM100 with the guide rail of the slot in the cabinet, and insert the OPCOM100
stably until the front panel engages the fixing panel.
Step 4 Press the two pull pins slowly and stably into the holes of the fixing panel to fix the
OPCOM100, as shown in Figure 5-2.
When connecting or removing the LC/PC fiber connector, align the connector with the optical
interface, and do not rotate the fiber. Operate the fiber as below:
Align the head of the fiber with the optical interface and insert the fiber into the interface
gently.
To remove the fiber, press the latch on the connector and pull the fiber out.
When connecting or removing the SC/PC fiber connector, align the connector with the optical
interface, and do not rotate the fiber. Operate the fiber as below:
Align the head of the fiber with the optical interface and insert the optical fiber into the
interface gently.
To remove the fiber, press the latch on the connector and pull the fiber out.
5.3 Maintenance
Reasonable use and maintenance keep the device with good performance indexes and prolong
the service life. Pay attention to the following matters:
Avoid severe mechanical shock, collision, falling, or damage. Ensure good packaging
and shock absorption, rainproof and waterproof measures.
Keep the device clean without corrosive gas, acid, and alkali.
Use a dustproof cover to cover the idle optical interface to prevent dust and objects from
entering.
