Inscribed & Concentric Figures

INSCRIBED comes from the Latin meaning “written within” and is a figure
within a figure touching the edges in as many places as possible.

CONCENTRIC is to have a common center.

ALIGNED is to adjust or to form a line.

TANGENT is to touch at a single point.

CIRCUMSCRIBED is to be around the circumference of the smaller shape.

The following three pages are templates for the ornamental geometric shapes for the child to explore and
experiment with. Each page has 10 sizes of the shape graded from 1 cm to 10 cm. Print so you have a
set of each color: Print each page on red, print each page on yellow and then print each page on blue.
