Methodology

Biodiversity, the diversity of living things, is important for ecosystems to

work in a healthy way. Natural environment depletion and over-exploitation,

fueled by our rapidly growing population and unsustainable consumer

preferences, are the major causes of the extinction of species, which is now

up to thousand times faster than it has been for millions of years. In addition,

Biodiversity conservation is a crucial concern. Rather than leading to its loss,

we all need to make efforts to protect biodiversity. Thus, for the survival of

living beings on earth, the abundance of biodiversity is necessary. The core

that enables ecosystems to work and humans to flourish is biodiversity.

Without the ecosystem's biodiversity, we would not have the plants and

animals we have today, including humans, in our world. They complement

one another over time and keep the ecosystem together. The environment will

lose its stability when a species is removed, thereby causing it to break down.

The aim of this study intends to evaluate strategically the place, diversity

and natural redevelopment in an area of Foresthill Barangay Sta. Monica

Novaliches. The locality was not that stable, because of inadequate and

loss of arboreal. The ground is too low and the house is near in the river

which often overflow every time there’s a rainfall causing of flood in the area

and too slow to subsidence.

The team conduct a plan on how to help and save the specific area by

sending a request letter to the Barangay Chairman which were, perform a

cleaning operation every week especially in the river near in the houses to
avoid clogging of waste. Second is, posting on social media to propagate

awareness about saving biodiversity and lastly, planting, we all know how

important and helpful nature is, in both people and environment. By supplying

oxygen, enhancing air quality, climate betterment, water protection, soil

preservation, and encouraging biodiversity, trees and plants help the

environment. In addition, trees produce carbon dioxide during the energy

production and generate the oxygen we breathe.

To come to the point, the main objective of this study is to evaluate the

condition and the biodiversity of the locality in the Foresthill Barangay Sta.

Monica Novaliches through various indices of diversity, in order to determine

the factors that effectively reflect the actual status of diversity in the study

setting. In addition, trees produce carbon dioxide during the energy production

and generate the oxygen we breathe.

Questions/Hypothesis

1. What is the cause of the destruction of biodiversity in your locality?

The cause of the destruction of biodiversity is the people in our society

who cut down large trees. The non-stop cutting of trees and the waste in the

river blocks the water from flowing that caused a flood when there is a heavy

typhoon.

2. In your little way, how would you contribute to save our environment?

Informing the neighbors to not to throw waste in the river and stop

cutting down trees that help the water absorb it. Maintaining the environment

by proper segregation in own houses can also help to save the biodiversity
3. As one of the residents in the community, are you willing to cooperate with

the given solution to save/ improve our surroundings? Why?

Yes, requiring the right conduct to make it easier to organize and

enhance the community, not just because it is necessary, but also to make it

better.

4. How to increase the effectiveness of the institutional policy of biodiversity?

The main obstacles and hurdles are the implementation and regulation

of policies. We need to implement a new law to preserve our biodiversity that

will reduce the transition of the traditional brown economy into a sustainable

green economy.

The non-stop cutting of trees and the waste in the river blocks the

water from flowing that caused a flood when there is a heavy typhoon. With

the help of informing the people not to throw waste in the river and stop

cutting down trees, it will help to save the environment. Having a policy and

right actions would make it easier for the community to coordinate and

improve, not just because it is necessary, but also to make it better.

Problem and Objectives

The main problem in the given setting is that the river is near in the

houses which often overflow because of clogging with garbage's which

causes as well of flooding when there is rain fall. Also because

of inadequate and loss of arboreal.

The main objective of this study is to help the area of Foresthill

Barangay Sta. Monica Novaliches to become stable in terms of having an

overflow of the river near the houses every time there’s a rainfall. This study

aims to help the locals to naturally redevelop their area by conducting a

project of cleaning operation in the river every week to prevent slowing of river

(water stagnation)flow. In addition to that, this study spreads awareness about

the biodiversity and on how to save it by posting on social media. Lastly, the

team shared knowledge in this area on how to plant trees because we all

know that trees help absorb water to prevent flooding.

Practical and Theoretical

The locality area of Barangay Santa Monica may encounter water

pollution that causes flooding. This happens when the rivers overflow into the

surface, the explanation of why water pollution exists. Predictably, human

intervention is mainly responsible for water pollution, even though natural

phenomena such as landslides and flooding can still lead to the degradation

of water quality. They have openly harmed biodiversity and aquatics

ecosystems. Thermal contamination, characterized by increasing water body

temperatures, leads to global warming and poses significant threats to

organisms from water. We presented our ideas to our SK Chairman to hold a

webinar with all the people near the river, and he approved our proposal

immediately. To support each other to clean up the environment, we joined

the community drive. Water conservation is necessary to ensure the

continuous abundance of water that is clean to use for ourselves and the

future generations. Water pollution is any water degradation produced by

humans that limits its utility to living organisms of nature. Moreover, we

approach empowering all people about how to use reused, reduced, and
recycled to teach our neighborhood, what they will do and also tell our

neighborhood how to reduce water pollution, if how to prevent climate change.

With the number of houses in our area, there are only a few trees planted so

which causes rapid floods, especially when too much garbage is blocked in

the waterways and rivers. Especially when the climate changes, nature

destroys and causes many living and non-living things to die. With only a few

trees and a few plants planted, the water in our area will not immediately

subside because it is already cemented and it will be difficult to subside

because no one will help to absorb the water.

Describe how your proposal be developed and how you will bring out

this results.

This study aims to propagate awareness by stated objectives above

and we think that it is important and helpful at the same time for the audiences
because all of us may suffer in this if we keep being irresponsible, every
amount of garbage that we throw anywhere, every trees we cut down might
cause risks in our environment. The team would like to create a page in
Facebook to spread awareness so that our study will be develop and lastly,
we are planning to promote a program which were the tree planting drive, we
all know how important and helpful nature is, in both people and environment .

By the result, when the chairman in that barangay agreed with our

proposal, we will conduct a meeting together with the whole barangay through

google meet since we are still facing pandemic as of today. we would to like to

explain there how important the environment is, also we will inform their that

each member of the household should volunteer for clean ups in the locality.

By joining in this meeting, they will gain a lot of learning and ideas.
