Washing Your Hands

Standard:
Standard 1: Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion
and disease prevention to enhance health
Grade:
First grade/Second grade
Objective:
To teach kids the importance of washing hands and how germs can spread.

Materials:
Hand Sanitizer with glitter in it or lotion
PowerPoint on Hand washing and germs
Video- Wash your hands By Pink Fong
Process:
1. Introduce Hand Washing by watching video
2. Show PowerPoint on Hand washing
3. Talk about When to was hands and how
4. Talk about how germs spread and from where
5. Do activity with hand sanitizer and glitter
6. Have kids stand in a circle and give a pump of sanitizer and have them shake
hands
7. Have kids talk about what happened

Music: For students who learn move by songs and music the video on
washing hands
Visual: PowerPoint and doing the hand sanitizer activity seeing how germs
spread
Hands on: Doing the hand sanitizer activity showing how germs spread
Auditory: For students who learn by listening and talking. Presenting the
PowerPoint and talking about how germs spread
Assessment:
At the end ask questions how how to wash hands, when, how do germs
spread, and where can germs be found.
