College Research Reflection

1. List the campuses you plan on applying to or have already applied to. Highlight the
three most important criteria you used in determining where to apply.
The three most important criteria are to have a well rated psychology program. There must be
an online schooling option. And finally, it must be affordable. The colleges I plan on applying to
are San Diego State University (SDSU), University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), and
California State University (CSU). My plan is to go to community college to get my core classes
out of the way, and then move on to a university.

2. Which campus is the one you would most like to attend? Explain why this campus is
your first choice compared to the others.
My first choice is SDSU, seeing as it is close to home, plus it has a good graduation rate.

3. What will be your intended education goal? How does this goal relate to your chosen
career? What resources do these campuses have to support you in this career field?
I would like to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, from there I can go to Northwestern,
which is centered around counselling.

4. How do the costs of attendance compare at each campus? How do you plan to cover
the costs of attendance if you are accepted?
They are all generally cheap, and as for covering it, my parents will be helping me with the cost.

5. Do you plan on transferring to a four year college? If so, which campuses are you
interested in transferring to?
I am not quite sure what community college I will be starting at, but my first thought is San Diego
Mesa Community College. I only want an online option so I may continue my schedule. Once
my core classes are out of the way, I will transfer in order to get my masters to start learning to
become a therapist. I want to transfer to Northwestern University.

6. Are there transfer agreements available? If so, which agreements do you plan to use to
successfully transfer? What are the requirements of these agreements?
The transfer agreements for Mesa include having a transferable GPA, a transcript, and
admission applications. Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) programs are designed to make
transitioning from a community college to a 4-year university easier and the requirements for
each of these programs/agreements vary. However, Mesa does not have a TAG agreement with
Northwestern. So instead, I will follow Northwestern’s transfer agreements. These include
having a full year of college education, SAT or ACT test scores, and a B average.
7. Which classes are transferable from the community college you plan to attend to the
campus you plan to transfer to? Are there classes that will not transfer?
I would get an ADT (an Associate Degree for Transfer) in psychology at San Diego Mesa. I
would get my core classes out of the way. In order to get into Northwestern, I would complete
the courses at Mesa to gain my associates degree then transfer to a university and finish my
bachelors degree. Then I would transfer to Northwestern University to get my masters in
psychology.
