Exercise 3. Answer the following questions.

1. How would you describe Uranus or Cronus as a father?

For me Uranus or Cronus is not a responsible father. They did not value the life
of their children’s, because if you are a father no matter what they are they all
deserved to be given important, love, respect and care. And in the story both
Uranus and Cronus did not portray well what should be a father be like instead they
show cruelty and treat their children as a piece of thing that can easily be thrown.
They value more their thrown or position over their children.

2. How are they similar or different from what you perceive a father should be?
For me a father should be the one who is in changer in protecting their
children, they are the 0ne who can be the knight and shining armor of their
children. Being a father is really a big responsibility because they are responsible
in guiding their children to grow, teach them good lessons, and give them so
much love. They must also understand and give important on every details of
their lives and I believe Uranus and Cronus did not do this perception of mine
about being a father. Instead of loving their children and give them chances to
feel the world they put them in a life where darkness is all they can see, they do
this so that no one can replaces them to their throne and I believe this kind of
attitude shows selfishness. That is why Uranus and Cronus is really different to
what I perceive a father should be.

3. Gaia and Rhea played important roles in the creation. What were they?

3
Gaia and Rhea shows what a woman be like because if they did not do what
they do the cruelty of Uranus and Cronus will not end. They show important role
in the creation since they are the one who gives advice to stop what Uranus or
Cronus do. If they did not choose the right choices it might be the creation is still
not in the peaceful ending. And also Gaia and Rhea shows what is a mother’s
love be like.

4. What characteristics or attributes which Gaia and Rhea possessed that

women can relate to or learn from?
For me the characteristics or attributes that Gaia and Rhea possessed that
women can relate to or learn from is that no matter what circumstances it is, a
mothers love is still the best. Also even though they are only wives they have
also have a big role in a family. And for those mothers that have children always
choose the best and right thing, do not be under on your husbands instead fight
for your children and value them more. Teach them good doings and good
lessons, give them important as what Gaia and Rhea gave to their children even
though it is in the end. Nothing last forever and as long as they are alive they
have the chances to change the faith they have and that is what Gaia and Rhea
do in the creation story that all mothers should know.

Identifying Character Traits

Characters do things. They feel things. They hear things. They say things.
They think things. They go places. They can walk, run, leap, and jump. They
may sit and rock in a rocking chair. They may just lie in bed, sleep, and
dream. But the important thing is that characters act.

And these actions show us what kind of people these characters are:
friendly, sad, nosey, happy, lovestruck, confused, angry, or inventive. When
we talk about a character, we often describe that character in terms of
character traits, descriptive adjectives like happy or sad that tell us the
specific qualities of the character. They are the same kinds of words that we
might use to describe ourselves or others, but we're using them to describe
fictional characters in something we've read.

The author may tell us these traits directly, but more often the author will
show us these traits in action. Our job as readers is to draw a conclusion
about the character's traits (to infer them) from what the character says,
thinks, and does. We might infer a character trait from something a
character does only once, or we might draw our conclusions from a series of
things the character says and does.

POISON HIS FATHER.

Exercise 5. Write a character sketch.

A character sketch informs you about the character in a book. When you write a
character sketch, you want the reader to have a strong mental image of the
person including how the person talks, acts and thinks.

Directions: Using your character map from the previous activity, introduce the
character in one-paragraph character sketch. The paragraph should
not exceed five sentences. Write your output in the space provided
below.

Consider the following when writing character sketch: appearance,

physical and personal strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes,
feelings and behaviors towards other characters, feelings of other
characters towards the character, feelings of character towards

him/her, personality at the beginning, and changes in personality as
story progresses.

In the story Zeus was the child of Cronus and Rhea which is supposed
to be also eaten by his father but his mother does a way to take Zeus away from
being eaten by his father, Zeus was the only way and hope of his mother to stop the
wrongdoing of Cronus. Zeus was brave, wise and fair to all because he shows
braveness when they planned to take them down Cronus, he poisoned it and fights
with the titans. Also he is wise for putting a poison to his father meal, he really finds
a way how to put it even though there is change to be caught by his father. Another
is he is fair because after winning the battle he didn’t get all the responsibility in
ruling the kingdom instead he divided to his siblings the responsibility in ruling the
world and that shows love towards its siblings. Another is Zeus listened to his
mother and grandmother, also even though one of the titans give him advice to
release his other uncles in the underworld he immediately think what help they can
do if he release it, he thinks that no matter what appearance they have they are still
his uncles that might be can help to win the battle against the titans.
