Song of Songs Chapter 1 ‫הַשִּׁירִים‬ ‫שִׁיר‬
‫ אֲשֶׁר‬,‫א שִׁיר הַשִּׁירִים‬ 1 The song of songs, which is
.‫לִשְׁ מֹה‬ Solomon's.

,‫ב יִשָּׁקֵ ִי מִנְּשִׁיקוֹת פִּיהוּ‬ 2 Let him kiss me with the


kisses of his mouth--for thy
.‫טוֹבִים דֹּדֶי מִיָּיִן‬-‫כִּי‬ love is better than wine.
,‫ג לְרֵיחַ שְׁמָ ֶי טוֹבִים‬ 3 Thine ointments have a
goodly fragrance; thy name is
,‫כֵּן‬-‫שֶׁמֶן תּוּרַק שְׁמֶ ; עַל‬ as ointment poured forth;
. ‫עֲלָמוֹת אֲהֵבוּ‬ therefore do the maidens love
thee.
;‫ אַחֲרֶי נָּרוּצָה‬,‫ד מָשְׁכֵ ִי‬ 4 Draw me, we will run after
thee; the king hath brought me
,‫הֱבִיאַ ִי הַמֶּלֶ חֲדָרָיו‬ into his chambers; we will be
-- ָ‫ָגִילָה וְ ִשְׂמְחָה בּ‬ glad and rejoice in thee, we will
,‫ַזְכִּירָה דֹדֶי מִיַּיִן‬ find thy love more fragrant than
wine! sincerely do they love
{‫ }פ‬. ‫מֵישָׁרִים אֲהֵבוּ‬ thee. {P}
,‫ה שְׁחוֹרָה אֲ ִי וְ ָאוָה‬ 5 'I am black, but comely, O ye
daughters of Jerusalem, as the
‫בְּ וֹת יְרוּשָׁלִָם; כְּאָהֳלֵי‬ tents of Kedar, as the curtains
.‫ כִּירִיעוֹת שְׁ מֹה‬,‫קֵדָר‬ of Solomon.
‫תִּרְאוּ ִי שֶׁאֲ ִי‬-‫ו אַל‬ 6 Look not upon me, that I am
swarthy, that the sun hath
‫ שֶׁשְּׁזָפַתְ ִי‬,‫שְׁחַרְחֹרֶת‬ tanned me; my mother's sons
,‫בִי‬-‫הַשָּׁמֶשׁ; בְּ ֵי אִמִּי ִחֲרוּ‬ were incensed against me, they
-‫הַכְּרָמִים‬-‫שָׂמֻ ִי ֹטֵרָה אֶת‬ made me keeper of the
vineyards; but mine own
.‫ לֹא ָטָרְתִּי‬,‫כַּרְמִי שֶׁלִּי‬- vineyard have I not kept.'
‫ שֶׁאָהֲבָה‬,‫ז הַגִּידָה לִּי‬ 7 Tell me, O thou whom my
soul loveth, where thou feedest,
‫ אֵיכָה‬,‫ אֵיכָה תִרְעֶה‬,‫ַפְשִׁי‬ where thou makest thy flock to
‫תַּרְבִּיץ בַּצָּהֳרָיִם; שַׁלָּמָה‬ rest at noon; for why should I
‫ עַל עֶדְרֵי‬,‫אֶהְיֶה כְּעֹטְיָה‬ be as one that veileth herself
beside the flocks of thy
. ‫חֲבֵרֶי‬ companions?

‫ הַיָּפָה‬, ָ‫לֹא תֵדְעִי ל‬-‫ח אִם‬ 8 If thou know not, O thou
fairest among women, go thy
‫לָ בְּעִקְבֵי‬-‫בַּנָּשִׁים; צְאִי‬ way forth by the footsteps of
, ִ‫גְּדִיֹּתַי‬-‫ וּרְעִי אֶת‬,‫הַצֹּאן‬ the flock and feed thy kids,
{‫ }פ‬.‫ מִשְׁכְּ וֹת הָרֹעִים‬,‫עַל‬ beside the shepherds' tents. {P}

,‫ט לְסֻסָתִי בְּרִכְבֵי פַרְעֹה‬ 9 I have compared thee, O my


love, to a steed in Pharaoh's
.‫דִּמִּיתִי רַעְיָתִי‬ chariots.
,‫י ָאווּ לְחָיַיִ בַּתֹּרִים‬ 10 Thy cheeks are comely with
circlets, thy neck with beads.
.‫צַוָּארֵ בַּחֲרוּזִים‬
, ָ‫לּ‬-‫יא תּוֹרֵי זָהָב ַעֲשֶׂה‬ 11 We will make thee circlets
of gold with studs of silver.
.‫עִם ְקֻדּוֹת הַכָּסֶף‬
,‫ בִּמְסִבּוֹ‬, ֶ‫שֶׁהַמֶּל‬-‫יב עַד‬ 12 While the king sat at his
table, my spikenard sent forth
.‫ ָתַן רֵיחוֹ‬,‫ִרְדִּי‬ its fragrance.
‫ בֵּין‬,‫יג צְרוֹר הַמֹּר דּוֹדִי לִי‬ 13 My beloved is unto me as a
bag of myrrh, that lieth betwixt
.‫שָׁדַי יָלִין‬ my breasts.
,‫יד אֶשְׁכֹּל הַכֹּפֶר דּוֹדִי לִי‬ 14 My beloved is unto me as a
cluster of henna in the
{‫ }ס‬.‫בְּכַרְמֵי עֵין גֶּדִי‬ vineyards of En-gedi. {S}
ָ‫ הִנּ‬,‫טו הִ ָנּ יָפָה רַעְיָתִי‬ 15 Behold, thou art fair, my
love; behold, thou art fair;
.‫יָפָה עֵי ַיִ יוֹ ִים‬ thine eyes are as doves.
‫טז הִנְּ יָפֶה דוֹדִי אַף‬ 16 Behold, thou art fair, my
beloved, yea, pleasant; also our
.‫עַרְשֵׂ וּ רַעֲ ָ ָה‬-‫ אַף‬,‫ָעִים‬ couch is leafy.
,‫יז קֹרוֹת בָּתֵּי וּ אֲרָזִים‬ 17 The beams of our houses are
cedars, and our panels are
.‫רחיט ו )רַהִיטֵ וּ( בְּרוֹתִים‬ cypresses.

Chapter 2 ‫הַשִּׁירִים‬ ‫שִׁיר‬
,‫א אֲ ִי חֲבַצֶּלֶת הַשָּׁרוֹן‬ 1 I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of
the valleys.
.‫שׁוֹשַׁנַּת הָעֲמָקִים‬
,‫ב כְּשׁוֹשַׁנָּה בֵּין הַחוֹחִים‬ 2 As a lily among thorns, so is
my love among the daughters.
.‫כֵּן רַעְיָתִי בֵּין הַבָּ וֹת‬
‫ כֵּן‬,‫ג כְּתַפּוּחַ בַּעֲצֵי הַיַּעַר‬ 3 As an apple-tree among the
trees of the wood, so is my
‫דּוֹדִי בֵּין הַבָּ ִים; בְּצִלּוֹ‬ beloved among the sons. Under
‫ וּפִרְיוֹ‬,‫חִמַּדְתִּי וְיָשַׁבְתִּי‬ its shadow I delighted to sit,
.‫מָתוֹק לְחִכִּי‬ and its fruit was sweet to my
taste.
,‫בֵּית הַיָּיִן‬-‫ד הֱבִיאַ ִי אֶל‬ 4 He hath brought me to the
banqueting-house, and his
.‫וְדִגְלוֹ עָלַי אַהֲבָה‬ banner over me is love.
--‫ בָּאֲשִׁישׁוֹת‬,‫ה סַמְּכוּ ִי‬ 5 'Stay ye me with dainties,
refresh me with apples; for I
-‫ כִּי‬:‫ בַּתַּפּוּחִים‬,‫רַפְּדוּ ִי‬ am love-sick.'
.‫ אָ ִי‬,‫חוֹלַת אַהֲבָה‬
,‫ו שְׂמֹאלוֹ תַּחַת לְרֹאשִׁי‬ 6 Let his left hand be under my
head, and his right hand
.‫וִימִי וֹ תְּחַבְּקֵ ִי‬ embrace me.
‫ז הִשְׁבַּעְתִּי אֶתְכֶם בְּ וֹת‬ 7 'I adjure you, O daughters of
Jerusalem, by the gazelles, and
,‫ אוֹ‬,‫ בִּצְבָאוֹת‬,‫יְרוּשָׁלִַם‬ by the hinds of the field, that ye
-‫ אִם‬:‫בְּאַיְלוֹת הַשָּׂדֶה‬ awaken not, nor stir up love,
-‫תְּעוֹרְרוּ אֶת‬-‫תָּעִירוּ וְאִם‬ until it please.' {S}
{‫ }ס‬.‫ עַד שֶׁתֶּחְפָּץ‬,‫הָאַהֲבָה‬
;‫זֶה בָּא‬-‫ הִנֵּה‬,‫ח קוֹל דּוֹדִי‬ 8 Hark! my beloved! behold, he
cometh, leaping upon the
,‫מְקַפֵּץ‬--‫הֶהָרִים‬-‫ עַל‬,‫מְדַלֵּג‬ mountains, skipping upon the
.‫הַגְּבָעוֹת‬-‫עַל‬ hills.
‫ אוֹ‬,‫ט דּוֹמֶה דוֹדִי לִצְבִי‬ 9 My beloved is like a gazelle
or a young hart; behold, he
‫זֶה‬-‫לְעֹפֶר הָאַיָּלִים; הִנֵּה‬ standeth behind our wall, he

--‫ אַחַר כָּתְלֵ וּ‬,‫עוֹמֵד‬ looketh in through the
windows, he peereth through
‫ מֵצִיץ‬,‫הַחַ וֹת‬-‫מַשְׁגִּיחַ מִן‬ the lattice.
.‫הַחֲרַכִּים‬-‫מִן‬
‫ וְאָמַר‬,‫י עָ ָה דוֹדִי‬ 10 My beloved spoke, and said
unto me: 'Rise up, my love, my
,‫ קוּמִי לָ רַעְיָתִי יָפָתִי‬:‫לִי‬ fair one, and come away.
. ָ‫ל‬-‫וּלְכִי‬
;‫ עָבָר‬,‫הִנֵּה הַסְּתָו‬-‫יא כִּי‬ 11 For, lo, the winter is past, the
rain is over and gone;
.‫ חָלַף הָלַ לוֹ‬,‫הַגֶּשֶׁם‬
,‫יב הַנִּצָּ ִים ִרְאוּ בָאָרֶץ‬ 12 The flowers appear on the
earth; the time of singing is
‫עֵת הַזָּמִיר הִגִּיעַ; וְקוֹל‬ come, and the voice of the
.‫ ִשְׁמַע בְּאַרְצֵ וּ‬,‫הַתּוֹר‬ turtle is heard in our land;
,ָ‫יג הַתְּאֵ ָה חָ ְטָה פַגֶּיה‬ 13 The fig-tree putteth forth her
green figs, and the vines in
;ַ‫וְהַגְּפָ ִים סְמָדַר ָתְ וּ רֵיח‬ blossom give forth their
‫קוּמִי לכי )לָ ( רַעְיָתִי‬ fragrance. Arise, my love, my
{‫ }ס‬. ָ‫ל‬-‫ וּלְכִי‬,‫יָפָתִי‬ fair one, and come away. {S}

,‫יד יוֹ ָתִי בְּחַגְוֵי הַסֶּלַע‬ 14 O my dove, that art in the


clefts of the rock, in the covert
‫ הַרְאִי ִי‬,‫בְּסֵתֶר הַמַּדְרֵגָה‬ of the cliff, let me see thy
-‫ הַשְׁמִיעִ ִי אֶת‬, ִ‫מַרְאַי‬-‫אֶת‬ countenance, let me hear thy
,‫קוֹלֵ עָרֵב‬-‫ כִּי‬: ֵ‫קוֹל‬ voice; for sweet is thy voice,
and thy countenance is
{‫ }ס‬.‫וּמַרְאֵי ָאוֶה‬ comely.' {S}
--‫ שֻׁעָלִים‬,‫לָ וּ‬-‫טו אֶחֱזוּ‬ 15 'Take us the foxes, the little
foxes, that spoil the vineyards;
‫ מְחַבְּלִים‬,‫שֻׁעָלִים קְטַנִּים‬ for our vineyards are in
.‫ סְמָדַר‬,‫כְּרָמִים; וּכְרָמֵי וּ‬ blossom.'
‫ הָרֹעֶה‬,‫טז דּוֹדִי לִי וַאֲ ִי לוֹ‬ 16 My beloved is mine, and I
am his, that feedeth among the
.‫בַּשּׁוֹשַׁנִּים‬ lilies.
‫ וְ ָסוּ‬,‫יז עַד שֶׁיָּפוּחַ הַיּוֹם‬ 17 Until the day breathe, and
the shadows flee away, turn,
ְ‫ל‬-‫ סֹב דְּמֵה‬:‫הַצְּלָלִים‬ my beloved, and be thou like a
‫ אוֹ לְעֹפֶר‬,‫דוֹדִי לִצְבִי‬ gazelle or a young hart upon

‫ ֵאת שֶׁ ָאהֲ בָ ה‬,‫ בִּ ַקּ ְשׁ ִתּי‬,‫ בַּ לֵּילוֹת‬,‫מ ְשׁכָּבִ י‬-‫ל‬ ִ ַ‫ע‬  ‫א‬ 1 By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul
loveth; I sought him, but I found him not.
.‫אתיו‬ִ ָ‫ וְ ל ֹא ְמצ‬,‫נַפְ ִשׁי; בִּ ַקּ ְשׁ ִתּיו‬
‫ בַּ ְשּׁו ִָקים‬,‫אקוּמָ ה נָּא וַאֲ סוֹבְ בָ ה בָ עִ יר‬  ‫ב‬ ָ 2 'I will rise now, and go about the city, in the streets
and in the broad ways, I will seek him whom my soul
;‫ ֵאת שֶׁ ָאהֲ בָ ה נַפְ ִשׁי‬,‫אֲ בַ ְקשָׁ ה‬--‫וּבָ ְרחֹבוֹת‬ loveth.' I sought him, but I found him not.

‫ ֵאת‬ :‫ בָּ עִ יר‬,‫ הַ סֹּבְ בִ ים‬,‫ הַ שּׁ ְֹמ ִרים‬,‫מצָ אוּנִי‬  ‫ג‬ ְ 3 The watchmen that go about the city found me: 'Saw
ye him whom my soul loveth?'
.‫יתם‬ ֶ ‫ ְר ִא‬,‫שֶׁ ָאהֲ בָ ה נַפְ ִשׁי‬
‫ ֵאת‬,‫אתי‬ ִ ָ‫ עַ ד שֶׁ מָּ צ‬,‫ שֶׁ עָ בַ ְר ִתּי מֵ הֶ ם‬,‫כִּ ְמעַ ט‬  ‫ד‬ 4 Scarce had I passed from them, when I found him
whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let
--‫ וְ ל ֹא ַא ְרפֶּנּוּ‬,‫שֶׁ ָאהֲ בָ ה נַפְ ִשׁי; אֲ חַ זְ ִתּיו‬ him go, until I had brought him into my mother's
‫חֶ דֶ ר‬-‫ וְ ֶאל‬,‫בֵּ ית ִא ִמּי‬-‫יאתיו ֶאל‬ ִ ֵ‫שֶׁ הֲ ב‬-‫עַ ד‬ house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and
.‫ ִמכֹּל ַאבְ ַקת רוֹכֵל‬,‫ְמ ֻקטֶּ ֶרת מֹר וּלְבוֹנָה‬ frankincense, with all powders of the merchant?
‫ סָ בִ יב‬,‫שׁ ִשּׁים גִּ בּ ִֹרים‬--‫ֹה‬
ִ ‫ ִמטָּ תוֹ שֶׁ לּ ְִשׁ מ‬,‫הנֵּה‬  ‫ז‬ ִ 7 Behold, it is the litter of Solomon; threescore
mighty men are about it, of the mighty men of Israel.
.‫ י ְִשׂ ָר ֵאל‬,‫ ִמגִּ בּ ֵֹרי‬ :‫לָהּ‬
‫ ְמל ְֻמּדֵ י ִמלְחָ מָ ה; ִאישׁ‬,‫ ֻכּלָּם אֲ חֻ זֵי חֶ ֶרב‬  ‫ח‬ 8 They all handle the sword, and are expert in war;
every man hath his sword upon his thigh, because of

ַ 9 King Solomon made himself a palanquin of the
wood of Lebanon.
.‫הַ לְּבָ נוֹן‬
‫ מֶ ְרכָּבוֹ‬,‫ ְרפִ ידָ תוֹ זָהָ ב‬,‫ עָ שָׂ ה כֶסֶ ף‬,‫עַ מּוּדָ יו‬  ‫י‬ 10 He made the pillars thereof of silver, the top thereof
of gold, the seat of it of purple, the inside thereof
.‫ ִמבְּ נוֹת יְרוּשָׁ ָל ִם‬,‫ַא ְרגָּמָ ן; תּוֹכוֹ ָרצוּף ַאהֲ בָ ה‬ being inlaid with love, from the daughters of
Jerusalem.
--‫ בַּ מֶּ ֶל ְשׁ מֹה‬,‫צְ ֶאנָה ְוּר ֶאינָה בְּ נוֹת צִ יּוֹן‬  ‫יא‬ 11 Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and gaze upon
king Solomon, even upon the crown wherewith his
,‫ וּבְ יוֹם‬,‫לּוֹ ִאמּוֹ בְּ יוֹם חֲ תֻ נָּתוֹ‬-‫ שֶׁ עִ ְטּ ָרה‬,‫בָּ עֲטָ ָרה‬ mother hath crowned him in the day of his espousals,
{‫ }ס‬ .‫ִשׂ ְמחַ ת לִבּוֹ‬ and in the day of the gladness of his heart. {S}

,‫עֵ י ַנ ִי יוֹנִים‬--‫ ִה ָנּ ָיפָה‬,‫ה ָנּ ָיפָה ַרעְ י ִָתי‬  ‫א‬ ִ 1 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair;
thine eyes are as doves behind thy veil; thy hair is as a
‫ שֶׁ ָגּלְשׁוּ‬,‫ִמבַּ עַ ד לְצַ מָּ ֵת ; שַׂ עְ ֵר כְּ עֵ דֶ ר הָ עִ זִּ ים‬ flock of goats, that trail down from mount Gilead.
.‫מֵ הַ ר גִּ לְעָ ד‬
 :‫הָ ַר ְחצָ ה‬-‫ שֶׁ עָ לוּ ִמן‬,‫שׁ ַנּ ִי כְּ עֵ דֶ ר הַ ְקּצוּבוֹת‬  ‫ב‬ ִ 2 Thy teeth are like a flock of ewes all shaped alike,
which are come up from the washing; whereof all are
.‫ ֵאין בָּ הֶ ם‬,‫ וְ שַׁ ֻכּלָה‬,‫ מַ ְת ִאימוֹת‬,‫שֶׁ ֻכּלָּם‬ paired, and none faileth among them.
;‫וּמ ְדבָּ ֵר נָאוֶה‬
ִ , ‫תוֹת ִי‬ַ ְ‫כְּ חוּט הַ שָּׁ נִי ִשׂפ‬  ‫ג‬ 3 Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy mouth is
comely; thy temples are like a pomegranate split open
. ‫ ִמבַּ עַ ד לְצַ מָּ ֵת‬, ‫כְּ ֶפלַח הָ ִרמּוֹן ַר ָקּ ֵת‬ behind thy veil.
‫ בָּ נוּי ל ְַתלְפִּ יּוֹת; ֶאלֶף‬, ‫ָאר‬
ֵ ‫כְּ ִמגְ דַּ ל דָּ וִ יד צַ וּ‬  ‫ד‬ 4 Thy neck is like the tower of David builded with
turrets, whereon there hang a thousand shields, all the
.‫ כֹּל ִשׁלְטֵ י הַ גִּ בּ ִֹרים‬,‫הַ מָּ גֵן ָתּלוּי עָ לָיו‬ armour of the mighty men.
,‫ ְתּאוֹמֵ י צְ בִ יָּה‬,‫שׁנֵי שָׁ דַ ִי כִּ ְשׁנֵי ֳעפ ִָרים‬  ‫ה‬
ְ 5 Thy two breasts are like two fawns that are twins of
a gazelle, which feed among the lilies.
.‫ בַּ שּׁוֹשַׁ נִּים‬,‫הָ רוֹעִ ים‬
‫א ֶל לִי‬--‫ִים‬
ֵ ‫ וְ נָסוּ הַ צְּ ָלל‬,‫עַ ד שֶׁ יָּפוּחַ הַ יּוֹם‬  ‫ו‬ 6 Until the day breathe, and the shadows flee away, I
will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of
.‫גִּ בְ עַ ת הַ לְּבוֹנָה‬-‫ וְ ֶאל‬,‫הַ ר הַ מּוֹר‬-‫ֶאל‬ frankincense.

‫ וְ ֵריחַ ַא ֵפּ‬,‫נָא שָׁ דַ ִי כְּ ֶא ְשׁכְּ לוֹת הַ ֶגּפֶן‬-‫וְ י ְִהיוּ‬ hold of the branches thereof; and let thy breasts be as
clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy countenance
.‫פּוּחים‬
ִ ‫כּ ַַתּ‬ like apples;
;‫ְדוֹדי לְמֵ ישָׁ ִרים‬
ִ ‫ כְּ יֵין הַ טּוֹב הוֹ ֵל ל‬, ‫וְ ִח ֵכּ‬  ‫י‬ 10 And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine, that
glideth down smoothly for my beloved, moving

whether the vine hath budded, whether the vine-
‫ הֵ נֵצוּ הָ ִרמּוֹנִים; שָׁ ם ֶא ֵתּן‬,‫פִּ ַתּח הַ ְסּמָ דַ ר‬ blossom be opened, and the pomegranates be in
. ‫ ָל‬,‫דֹּדַ י‬-‫ֶאת‬ flower; there will I give thee my love.
‫פְּ ָתחֵ ינוּ‬-‫ וְ עַ ל‬, ַ‫ריח‬-‫נוּ‬

ִ ‫ִשׁיר הַ ִשּׁ‬
ֲ‫ יוֹנֵק ְשׁדֵ י ִא ִמּי; ֶא ְמצָ א‬,‫מי י ִֶתּ ְנ כְּ ָאח לִי‬  ‫א‬
ִ 1 Oh that thou wert as my brother, that sucked the
breasts of my mother! When I should find thee
.‫ ָיבֻזוּ לִי‬-‫ גַּם ל ֹא‬, ‫בַ חוּץ ֶאשָּׁ ְק‬ without, I would kiss thee; yea, and none would
despise me.
;‫תּל ְַמּדֵ נִי‬--‫י‬

ִ 4 'I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem: Why

,‫ ִמ ְת ַרפּ ֶֶקת‬,‫הַ ִמּ ְדבָּ ר‬-‫ ֹעלָה ִמן‬,‫מי ז ֹאת‬  ‫ה‬
ִ 5 Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness,
leaning upon her beloved? Under the apple-tree I
‫שָׁ מָּ ה‬-- ‫עוֹר ְר ִתּי‬ ַ , ַ‫דּוֹדָ הּ; ַתּחַ ת הַ ַתּפּוּח‬-‫עַ ל‬ awakened thee; there thy mother was in travail with
. ‫ שָׁ מָּ ה ִחבְּ לָה ְילָדַ ְת‬, ֶ‫ִחבְּ ל ְַת ִאמּ‬ thee; there was she in travail and brought thee forth.

arm; for love is strong as death, jealousy is cruel as
 :‫ ָקשָׁ ה כִ ְשׁאוֹל ִקנ ְָאה‬,‫עַ זָּה כַמָּ וֶת ַאהֲ בָ ה‬-‫כִּ י‬ the grave; the flashes thereof are flashes of fire, a very
.‫ ֵאשׁ שַׁ לְהֶ בֶ ְתיָה‬,‫ר ְשׁפֵּי‬--
ִ ָ‫ְרשָׁ פֶיה‬ flame of the LORD.
,‫הָ ַאהֲ בָ ה‬-‫ ל ֹא יוּכְ לוּ ְלכַבּוֹת ֶאת‬,‫מַ יִם ַרבִּ ים‬  ‫ז‬ 7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the
floods drown it; if a man would give all the substance
‫י ִֵתּן ִאישׁ‬-‫ ל ֹא י ְִשׁ ְטפוּהָ ; ִאם‬,‫וּנְהָ רוֹת‬ of his house for love, he would utterly be

;‫ וְ שָׁ דַ יִם ֵאין לָהּ‬,‫אחוֹת לָנוּ ְקטַ נָּה‬  ‫ח‬ ָ 8 We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts; what
shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be
.‫בָּ הּ‬-‫ בַּ יּוֹם שֶׁ ְיּדֻבַּ ר‬,‫ ַנּעֲשֶׂ ה לַאֲ ח ֵֹתנוּ‬-‫מַ ה‬ spoken for?
;‫ירת כָּסֶ ף‬ַ ‫ נִבְ נֶה עָ לֶיהָ ִט‬,‫חוֹמָ ה ִהיא‬-‫אם‬  ‫ט‬
ִ 9 If she be a wall, we will build upon her a turret of
silver; and if she be a door, we will enclose her with

‫ִיתי‬
ִ ‫ וְ שָׁ דַ י כּ ִַמּגְ דָּ לוֹת; ָאז הָ י‬,‫אֲ נִי חוֹמָ ה‬  ‫י‬ 10 I am a wall, and my breasts like the towers thereof;
then was I in his eyes as one that found peace. {P}
{‫ }פ‬ .‫ כְּ מוֹצְ ֵאת שָׁ לוֹם‬,‫בְ עֵ ינָיו‬
‫ נ ַָתן‬,‫כּ ֶֶרם הָ יָה ל ְִשׁ מֹה בְּ בַ עַ ל הָ מוֹן‬  ‫יא‬ 11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; he gave
over the vineyard unto keepers; every one for the fruit
‫ ֶאלֶף‬,‫ ִאישׁ יָבִ א בְּ פִ ְריוֹ‬ :‫הַ כּ ֶֶרם ַלנּ ְֹט ִרים‬-‫ֶאת‬ thereof brought in a thousand pieces of silver.

,‫ ְל ָפנָי; הָ ֶאלֶף ְל ְשׁ מֹה‬,‫כּ ְַר ִמי שֶׁ לִּי‬  ‫יב‬ 12 My vineyard, which is mine, is before me; thou, O
Solomon, shalt have the thousand, and those that keep

- ‫ חֲ בֵ ִרים מַ ְק ִשׁיבִ ים לְקוֹ ֵל‬,‫הַ יּוֹשֶׁ בֶ ת בַּ ַגּנִּים‬  ‫יג‬ 13 Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the companions
hearken for thy voice: 'Cause me to hear it.'

‫ ְל לִצְ בִ י אוֹ ְל ֹעפֶר‬-‫וּדמֵ ה‬
ְ ,‫דּוֹדי‬ִ ‫בְּ ַרח‬  ‫יד‬ 14 Make haste, my beloved, and be thou like to a
gazelle or to a young hart upon the mountains of
