OPENING CEREMONY:
The Opening Ceremony/ Parents Day was held on Saturday 5 th August, 2017 under the

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly as Special Guest of Honour. The event was

SUNDAY SERVICES:
The Sunday services had Rev. Cletus Ojong as officiating Minister. Many pilgrims
attended the Sunday service.

CHALLENGES
 Inadequate personnel in the information unit.
 Inadequate Microphone in the hall.
 Lack of man power in the kitchen.
 Personnel sent to the registry unit should be carefully selected as some of the
officers from the just concluded camp could not cope with the pressure in the unit,
hence resulting in lapses that could have been avoided.
 Bible study teachers were not stable in the camp.
 No sound system for school leavers’ forum.
 Inadequate Pilgrim for counselling.
 Inadequate number of female police.
 Most of the campers were in camp without their bibles and writing materials.

RECOMMENDATION/SUGGESTIONS
i. Pre-registration: This should be strongly encouraged. Pre-registration forms should
be dispensed and circulated as early as January, with a detached copy added to it.
The forms should also be stamped or duly numbered. This is to ease reception of
campers on the first day. It will also aid in planning effectively.
ii. Registration: This should be provided to aid identification of campers within the
camp. Also, registered campers (pilgrims included) should be encouraged to wear
these tags during the camping period. These tags would also be laminated to prevent
changes by campers. Other registration materials should also be provided early
enough to ease the work.
iii. Each hostel should have at least one police or a pilgrim, this will help and ensure
compliance and control within the hostels.
iv. Phones should not be allowed into the camp, campers should register their phones at
registration unit, theft of it is at owner’s risk.
CONCLUSION
In spite of the dwindling Nigerian Economy and other numerous challenges, we thank
God that the camp was successful. We appreciate all the camp officers especially those
who received their portfolios in camp. We appreciate the zonal committee for finding us
worthy to serve God in this capacity. We say may God richly bless all the Pilgrims and
Friends of the Scripture Union Nigeria that floated the camp. We finally say... “TO GOD
BE THE GLORY”.
