Speaker Biography:

Dr. Michael Davies is the Chief Executive Officer of the


PROTEGO® Group.
Michael serves on the National Fire Protection
Association’s NFPA 68 (Standard on Explosion Protection
by Deflagration Venting) and NFPA 69 (Standard on
Explosion Prevention Systems), NFPA 67 (Guideline on
Explosion Protection for Gaseous Mixtures in Pipe
Systems).
Additionally, Michael sits on the American Petroleum
Institute’s API 2000 (Venting Atmospheric and Low-
pressure Storage Tanks).
Michael is also an active member of the American Institute
of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)

Speaker Biography:
Mr. David Long is the Managing Director of PROTEGO UK Ltd.
David is Chair of BSI EXL/23 – Explosion and Fire Precautions in
Industrial & Chemical Plants.
He is a member of EXL/23/0-/03 – Design of fans working in
potentially explosive atmospheres.
Additionally, David is a member of BSI FSH/000 – Fire & Built
Environment Sector Policy & Strategy Committee.
Also a member of BSI PSE/017-0-/06 – Processing Equipment
and systems for petroleum and natural gas industries and a
member of BSI PVE/015 Storage Tanks for Petroleum Industry.
David also sits on IOGP - PT ISO 28300 - Project Team for
revision of ISO 28300 “PP&NGI — Venting of atmospheric and
low-pressure storage tanks“.
Lastly, ISO / IEC TC31 MT 16852 Flame arresters –
Performance requirements, test methods and limits for use.
