Najwa Shihab is a person who inspired me to learn how to be a good public speaker.
And I'm sure I'm not the only one who was inspired by it. Who is Najwa Shihab? Najwa
Shihab who is familiarly called Nana is a former news presenter at Metro TV television
station and now she is the host of the talk show Mata Najwa. Reporting from Wikipedia,
Nana was born on September 16, 1977 and raised in a middle-class family where her father
was Quraish Shihab, where she was Minister of Religion during the VII Development Cabinet
era. Najwa Shihab is the wife of Ibrahim Assegaf and mother with one son, Izzat Assegaf.
Najwa Shihab is an alumni of the UI Faculty of Law, class of 1996. At that time, Nana High
School was selected to participate in the American Field Service program. In addition, Nana
continued her master's degree at Melbourne Law School. Najwa Shihab started his junalistik
career as a host starting with RCTI, in 2001 he chose to join Metro TV. In 2006 he was voted
Best Journalist for Metro TV, and was nominated for Best News Reader for the Panasonic
Awards. In 2007, recognition of Najwa's professionalism did not only come from within the
country, but also abroad. Evidently, in addition to being nominated for the Best News Reader
for the Panasonic Awards, he was also nominated (in the top 5) for a more prestigious event at
the Asian level, namely the Asian Television Awards for the category Best Current Affairs /
Talkshow Presenter, which was announced in November 2013 in Singapore. In 2016, Najwa
Shihab was appointed as the Indonesian Reading Ambassador (2016-2020) by the National
Library of Indonesia, with the main task of spreading reading interest across the country.
Apart from that, Najwa is also a Mobile Library Ambassador. Literacy network dedicated to
building mobile libraries, from one region to another, with simple infrastructure. In the
program, there are parties who distribute books using horses, carts, boats, Vespa, and so on.
Najwa's job is to build awareness of books and the reading movement, to distribute reading
materials to various parts of the country, in an effort to increase reading interest in Indonesia.
In 2018, after being a journalist for 9 years, Najwa Shihab founded Narasi TV, an omni-
channel news and media company that creates and manages several types of content. As I
explained earlier, Najwa Shihab is a good speaker. Reported from a news article at
jateng.tribunnews.com, Najwa Shihab is the recipient of the 2011 Young Global Leader
award for his professional achievements, commitment to society and potential contribution in
shaping the future of the world with his leadership that inspires other young people .
