What were the challenges CTCC encountered while adopting BI?

Consider the

management, organization, and technology factors.

The challenges that CTCC faced during the initial BI implementation were mostly

internal. They encountered issues with communication and leadership within IT due to the ERP

and BI systems analysts’ departments being managed separately. The departments' direction was

unclear with inconsistent. Another challenge was the user adoption, as it was not executed very

well and seemed to depend on user ability or skillset rather than a mandatory or structured

training program based on the user's role. Those who embrace new technologies versus those

who would prefer everything to continue as it was. Also, employees requested numerous

customized reports and over time, the list of reports became overwhelming. Again, with no

direction, no one was monitoring possible overlap of report data which would create reports with

similar information, or even those with conflicting information. This made it difficult for

employees to find what report they needed and caused some to give up the reports entirely.

Ultimately, not utilizing the technology efficiently or to its full potential.

Basically relationship is the key to business of a firm. If expansion is happening in the

firm, seeing that all divisions come together and discuss about important tactics for future

changes. A powerful ERP network and BI network is the important to a firm’s productivity and

success. Without a basic network on which everyone can work, a firm can be arranged. It can

also be reviewed unsuitable for future developments when the CTCC deals with SAP execution.

Why was BI important at CTCC? What value could it provide to the firm?
Business intelligence was important at CTCC partially because it helped eliminate

problems relating to security. BI also helped with content management and information sharing.

The Project Management Office benefitted from BI because it assisted with project cost

reporting in a timely manner. The BI platform also helped in the engineering department by

providing "an interactive dashboard that reported on a multidimensional dataset of engineering

hours" (Leung & Kristal, 2014). It also allowed managers to see which engineers were working

on which projects and which resources were over- and underutilized. Overall, the BI platform is

important to integrate information and provided analysis for CTCC.
