Research Context
English Language is an international language and one of the most commonly
used language by other people in order to go communicate with other people
globally as well used by the international organizations that usually consists of
people from different common languages and language that mostly used on the
Internet and media.
As of people that may familiar with English, we probably used the most
common dialect of English Language which is the American as it was the most used
English for it’s easier to be pronounced as well as listened and the used of more
common and familiar vocabulary such as in British, instead in American we called a
particular sweet and small food as “Candy”, but there called “Sweets” instead.
British English was the older English Language before American English and
it was introduced to America by English Colonization and as well with the effect of
the British trade during the beginning of late 16th to the early 17 th. Because of that,
it is spread and growing very fast across the world through the creations of the
English language of British and American’s literatures, textbooks, and newspapers
as well.
As it is now, British known by the people who knows English language to be
more difficult in many ways whether it is from how it is pronounced and listened
especially for those people who more familiar to American English than British
English, as well as it is more used in English Proficiency tests for foreigners who
wanted to go abroad especially to UK such as TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, and etc.
In this work, Author will make an observational research to measures how
TBI college students in IAIN MADURA they pronounced and listened to the British
English language as it is more difficult and it required more focus on how it is
pronounced in British way and especially how they can listen British English from
British people’s accent that unfamiliar than American’s.
