Edgar Dale and the Cone of Experience

1. Think about your most memorable learning experience. How was it (or how was it not) a
“rich experience” as defined by Dale?
My most memorable learning experience is “demonstration teaching”. It is rich
experience for the reason that I’ve learned the process of learning wherein I involved
myself in learning or what we called “learning by doing”. Demonstration teaching, teach
me on how to be a professional teacher. I also learn how to cope up with the learning
style of every learner had and what teaching strategies are perfect to use to meet the
satisfaction of every learner. In doing action-learning you will become a critical and
creative thinker.
2. Describe an experience you have had that was emotionally rewarding and motivated you
to continue learning throughout your life.
The experience I’ve had that makes me emotionally rewarding and motivated is
“demonstration teaching” because of the action-learning I’ve experience. This experience
made me realize how much I love my course especially the children that I will handle
soon. It made me also realized the importance of teaching for the reason that as a teacher,
I will build and mold young minds. I will be one of their inspirations to fulfil their
dreams.
3. As a teacher, how will you incorporate Dale’s Cone Experience in elementary grades?
Show an example of a task or activity and briefly explain how learners will learn from
your chosen activity.
As a future teacher, I will incorporate Dale’s Cone Experience in elementary
grades by following the learning pyramid which least at the top and most of the bottom
for the reason that it helps teacher to increase the retention rate of learners by involving
the learner in learning. The task or activity that I will utilize is “debate” wherein the
whole class will be divided into two groups and topic is given. One group is made to talk
in favour to topic while the other is made to talk against the topic. Learners will learn
from this chosen activity by enhancing their critical thinking, make them creative thinker,
have skilful communication, research independently, and learn to think in a different
perspective.
