Stress:
Stress refers to any disruptive event happens to us which is expressed by physical, behavioral,
emotional or cognitive responses. Here, engineering model states that stress is something that
happens to us when we are exposed to a stressor. Accordingly, it is important to realize that
what are the stressors, some symptoms and how to deal with it.

Stressor:
A stressor can be events or environments that an individual would consider demanding,
challenging, and or threaten the individual's safety.
Some illustrations of stressors are as follows:

5. Anxiety
6. High blood pressure

Our purpose should be dealing with stress in such a manner that it can help us in doing our

Part B:
What is Stress?
Stress is the body's reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body
reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses. Even positive life
changes such as a promotion, a mortgage, or the birth of a child produce stress.

Stressor:
A stressor is a chemical or biological agent, environmental condition, external stimulus or an
event that causes stress to an organism. Psychologically speaking, a stressor can be events or
environments that an individual would consider demanding, challenging, and or threaten the
individual's safety. Some examples are as follows:
1. Unpredictable events
2. Inappropriate working environment
3. Fears
4. Uncertainty and lack of control
5. Beliefs (attitude, opinion, expectations)
How to manage stress:
People can learn to manage stress and lead happier, healthier lives. Here are some tips to help
you keep stress at bay.
1. Keep a positive attitude.
2. Accept that there are events that you cannot control.
3. Be assertive instead of aggressive. Assert your feelings, opinions, or beliefs instead of
becoming angry, defensive, or passive.
4. Learn and practice relaxation techniques; try meditation, yoga, or tai-chi for stress
management.
5. Exercise regularly. Your body can fight stress better when it is fit.
6. Eat healthy, well-balanced meals.
7. Learn to manage your time more effectively.
8. Set limits appropriately and learn to say no to requests that would create excessive
stress in your life. Make time for hobbies, interests, and relaxation.
9. Get enough rest and sleep. Your body needs time to recover from stressful events.
10. Don't rely on alcohol, drugs, or compulsive behaviors to reduce stress.
11. Seek out social support. Spend enough time with those you enjoy.

Part C:
Stress is a part of our life. We usually expose to certain levels of stress but what make stress
more severe is the inability to handle it, which results from inability to recognize what is
actually going on. We have to analyze our stressors in order to deal with it in such a manner so
that it make our tasks accomplish effectively. For instance, when students have to appear in an
exam, the stressor is not the exam but the inadequate preparation for the exam is a stressor.
Likewise, a fear of being caught while driving without license is a stressor, not the traffic
constable who is performing his duty. Accordingly, if we want to avoid stress, we should
recognize our stressors and eliminate or cope with them in order to reduce stress, that’s how
someone can manage his or her stress.
