Blossoms of Zuiryuji Temple ① [Inabu]
✔ This 370-year-old weeping cherry is a natural monument of Aichi Prefecture.
In spring, it spreads its branches and fills the temple ground with flowers.
✔ The best time to see the cherry blossoms is from early to mid-April, and
during this season the tree is lit up at night from sunset to 21:00, enchanting
those who see it with its dream-like appearance.

Shidaremomo Weeping Peach
Blossoms of Kaminaka ② [Asahi]
✔ Kaminaka is home to about 3,000 weeping peach trees growing in clusters.
There is a one-kilometer-long trail through Kaminaka, and there will be
temporary parking available during the season. Take a walk through clouds of
beautiful, pink peach blossoms. The best time to visit is early to mid-April.

Sakura Cherry and Yukiyanagi Katakuri Asian Fawnlily Colony ④ [Asuke]
Thunberg's Meadowsweet Blossoms of ✔ The Asian fawnlily colony - a plant known in Japan as Katakuri (Erythronium
japonicum) is located on the northwest slopes of Mt. Iimori, Asuke-Town,
Aichi Greenery Center ③ [Fujioka] covering an area of about 5,000m2. Blossoming occurs between mid-March to
early April, however the period may vary depending on weather conditions.
✔ Cherry blossoms and Thunberg's meadowsweets bloom along a 200-meter-long
promenade in a Japanese-style garden. Known as Yukiyanagi in Japan, the snow-
white blossoms contrast perfectly with the pale pink cherry buds in full bloom.
Together, they create a beautiful, dream-like scenery.
✔ Visit the park from late March to early April to enjoy the flowers in bloom.

Suigen Sakura Cherry Blossoms Festival ⑤

✔ About 450 cherry trees are planted on the right bank of the Yahagi River flowing
adjacent to Suigen Park. In early April, it becomes one of the most popular
sakura cherry blossoms spots in Toyota City, where the entire area gets painted
in the beautiful cherry blossom colors making for an expanding and fantastic sight.
ORBIT SUP Experience School ⑥ [Toyota]
✔ Enjoy an experiential session of the new and popular Stand-Up Paddleboard -
SUP. The activity is available on weekends in Saturday and Sunday (all day), and
on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (morning only) at the Suigen Park.
Guests can participate in any of the seasons throughout the year. But especially
in spring, you can enjoy the park's sakura cherry-blossoms from the vantage
point in the middle of the Yahagigawa River.

Otaki Gorge ⑦ [Matsudaira]
✔ Also called Shosenkyo Gorge (the most beautiful
gorge in Japan) of the Tokai region, Otaki Gorge is
located along Nio River, a tributary of the Tomoe
River. Take a walk along the promenade, and you can
see the beautiful, clear river gushing out between
huge river rocks. The beautiful mountain scenery
changes color with the seasons—all shades of pink in
spring, fresh green in summer, and fiery autumn
foliage in the fall.
✔ The gorge is also a popular spot for family vacations,
with barbecue areas, five parks, plum gardens, two
suspension bridges including the Nakanose Ohashi
Bridge, the 90-meter-long Otaki Lake Suspension
Bridge over Lake Otaki, and more.

Korankei Gorge ⑧ [Asuke]
Known as one of the best spots for
autumn foliage, Korankei Gorge is
visited by about 460,000 people
every fall.
✔ Trails run along and all around the
Tomoe River, and a walk will take you
through breathtaking scenery created
by about 4,000 Japanese maple trees in
bright fall colors.
✔ From November 1 to 30, the area
comes to life with the Korankei Momiji
Festival.
✔ During the festival, the colored trees
are lit up from sunset to 21:00, and
visitors can enjoy Japanese sweets,
juicy sausages, grilled sweetfish, and

Shikizakura Four-Season Cherry Blossoms of Obara ⑨
[Obara]
✔ Shikizakura cherry trees in the Obara area have been receiving more attention from both in- and
outside of Japan, and the area is visited by about 150,000 people every year.
✔ Shikizakura cherries bloom twice a year, in spring and fall, and there are about 10,000 of them in
the Obara area.
✔ Nearby Senmi Shikizakura no Sato features 1,200 shikizakura cherry trees and Japanese maples,
creating an amazing view colored by the pale pink of cherry blossoms and the strikingly vivid red
maple leaves.

Hyobaku Ice Cascade of

✔ A huge frozen waterfall appears near Oidaira Park (Rokurogi) in winter.
A waterfall near the park is covered in pillars and beams in December, and the
mountain water running over the wooden supports turns into majestic ice pillars.
✔ The waterfall is lit up at night, filling it with otherworldly lights, and it is a
popular sightseeing spot.

Sanshu Asuke Yashiki
Museum ⑫ [Asuke]
✔ Sanshu Asuke Yashiki is a traditional Japanese-style
thatched house modeled after a house belonging to a
powerful farmer in the Asuke area that stood a century
ago. Here, visitors can see demonstrations of weaving,
charcoal making, metalsmithing, and other crafts, buy
the products of these crafts, and try their hands at
weaving, indigo dying, and making bamboo crafts.

Washi no Furusato ⑬ [Obara]
✔ Obara washi paper is a traditional art of the Obara region. This
form of “painting” is created by “drawing” with dyed raw material
of washi paper in a template “frame.”
✔ The museum contains an Art and Craft Center, where you can
try your hand at making washi paper, and a Washi Artwork
Gallery where you can learn about the charms and wonders of
Obara washi paper art.
✔ In the workshop, an expert on Obara washi paper will walk you
through each step of the process, so even first-time papermakers

 Odo Kanko Yana Fishing Weir ⑯ [Asahi]
✔ This sweetfish-catching spot offers a great view of the Yahagi
River. There is a small pond where even little children can have fun
catching fish with their hands. Revel in the gorgeous view and
freshly grilled sweetfish!
✔ Grab a drink and enjoy some sweetfish and the scenery of the
Yahagi River.

Oiden Yana Fishing Weir ⑮ [Inabu]

✔ Oiden Yana is a bamboo weir that works as a fish trap, built over
the fresh, clear water of the upstream Yahagi River. This is an ideal
spot for catching sweetfish and playing in the river. The weir is free
to enter, and is often bustling with families with small children.
✔ In the tent, you can eat your fill of grilled sweetfish, ayu-gohei-
mochi rice cakes, rice cooked with sweetfish, and other delicious
sweetfish dishes.

✔ A nationally designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional
Buildings, the Old Streets of Asuke is a town of merchant houses that once
flourished as a key stopover on the Chuma Kaido trading route.
✔ A street lined with pastry shops, eateries, inns and other buildings from the Edo
Period. In Aug., Tankororin - lanterns of bamboo and paper - illuminate the town.
From Feb. to early Mar., the Hina Dolls of Chuma are displayed at the households.

Matsudaira-Go ⑳
[Matsudaira]
✔ Matsudaira-Go is the birthplace of the Matsudaira
clan, said to have been the ancestors of the
Tokugawa Clan.
✔ The neighborhood is a home to a number of historic
sites related to the Matsudaira clan, including
Matsudaira Toshogu Shrine, the Matsudaira Castle
ruins, and Kogetsuin Temple, where Chikauji, the
founder of the clan, is enshrined.
✔ The area is also surrounded by wild plants, and is
pleasing to the eyes in all four seasons, with cherry
blossoms in spring, irises and hydrangeas in early
summer, and Japanese clovers and Japanese maples
in the fall.

Wind Chime Festival ㉒

✔ During the Odo Yumekake Furin Wind
Chime Festival, the neighborhood is
filled with the clear, light ringing of
wind chimes swinging in breeze over the
murmurs of the river.
✔ Visitors to Furindera (Zufukuji Temple),
can write their wishes on a strip of
paper hanging below a wind chime, and
can also try zazen meditation and sutra
transcription.

✔ Witness the spectacle of festival floats parading ✔ The Asuke Festival celebrates Asuke
through a rain of confetti. Hachimangu Shrine (founded in 673).
✔ Boisterous, energetic, and glorious - Koromo ✔ Festivals that are similar to the one held today
Festival with flying confetti and eight festival floats may have been held in the mid-1700s or earlier.
is one of the major festivals of the Mikawa region.
✔ Four festival floats parade through the town.
✔ This is a very old festival, and it is said that the
current festival’s style was established in the late
Edo period or early Meiji period. The festival
demonstrates the spirit of people who lived in the
Koromo Castle town in ages past.

✔ The annual Sanage Festival consists of two parts:

the Hongaku Festival and the Shigaku Festival.
Hongaku Festival is held on the second Sunday
of October, and the Shigaku Festival on the day
before.
✔ In the Shigaku Festival, a solemn, otherworldly
parade of a portable shine on which a god rides,
and a fierce performance of the traditional martial
arts of the local area will take place in dedication
to the god of the shrine.

Obara washi paper art, and you can create your original work of washi paper art, with illustrations, letters, or leaves, in the
forms of uchiwa fans, tapestries, and more.

Chikauji, the founder of the clan, is enshrined.
The Tenkasai Festival to honor the great deeds of Lord Chikauji, the founder of the Matsudaira Clan who prayed for a peaceful world, takes place in
February. In the festival, men of unlucky ages (ages at which people are said to experience bad luck) clothed only in loincloths fight over a wooden
orb called a mizutama to ward off misfortunes. Their valor and bravery is the highlight of the event.
