Introduction of Computer:

The first computer was develop by Charles Babbage it is called Analytical

engine in 1822 A.D. So now he is known as the father of modern computer. A
computer is an electronic device that accepts data and instruction as input,
process data according to given instruction and produce information as output.

Input Device:
Input devices are the devices that provide information to the computer. In a
computer information enters through input devices. It may read the data in the
form of text, number, image, audio or video but the data given in any format will
have to be converted into a machine readable format and it is done through
input unit.

i)Keyboard:
Keyboard is a input device that used in computer to feed text data by typing
key available on board. The first modern computer was started with the invitation
of typewriter. And later on, developed in technology created the typewriter to
keyboard. The standard layout of letters, numbers and punctuation is known as
QWERTY keyboard.

ii)Mouse:
Mouse is a small device handel by hand that used to provide graphical data
as input by clicking to the computer. To choose something that is on the screen,
the user can move the cursor to it and "click" the left mouse button. The right
mouse button is used to open menus that are different depending on where the
cursor is.

iii)Microphone:
 Microphone is a input device that is used to record the features of audio,
video and play it back. Nowdays most PCs have phone dialing capabilities, so if we
have microphone then we can use it as telephone call.

Output Device:
The process of translating readable data into understandable data by user
through other machine is called output device. It is a peripheral device that follow
the command from CPU and present to the user. There are various types of
output device on the basis of Softcopy devices and Hardcopy devices.

The major output devices are given below:

i)Printer:
Printer is a hard-copy device which is one of the most popular output devices
for personal computer. It is a device that accepts text and graphic output from a
computer and transfers the information to paper, usually to standard size sheets
of paper.

ii)Speakers:
Speaker is a output device that is used in computer system to produce
output in the form of sound. The purpose of speakers is to produce audio output
that can be heard by the listener. Speakers are helpful for blind people, who can
hear but cannot see the information on the monitor.

iii)Visual Display Unit(VDU)/Monitors:

The piece of computer hardware which displays the video and graphics
information generated by computer is called monitor. It is soft copy output device
which is used to display the information. Monitors are very similar to television
but it display information at much higher resolution. Monitors have no exact
shape and size, it is available in different types of shape and size.
There are three basic type of monitor. They are:

i) Cathode ray tube(CRT)

ii) Liquid crystal display(LCD) &
iii) Plasma display.
