A Message from FBLA-PBL Board Chair, Ron Pierce

Dear FBLA-PBL Members,

Advisers, and Friends,
This spring, when the COVID-19 pandemic forced our nation to come
to an abrupt halt, the FBLA-PBL Board of Directors had to make a
decision about the capstone of our membership year—the National
Leadership Conference. As with any business decision, we weighed
our options, consulted our stakeholders, and ultimately decided that
our members deserved to be recognized for their efforts throughout
the program year. As such, we introduced the National Leadership
Experience (NLE). Although many state FBLA-PBL organizations
quickly stood up successful online conferences, we were not entirely
sure how the NLE would be received.

I am pleased to share that there were more than 10,000 attendees

representing middle school, high school, and collegiate members.
During the month of June, they competed, networked, and celebrated.
Our volunteer leadership and National Center staff coordinated
leadership workshops, general sessions, and the needs of thousands
of competitors. Meanwhile, our talented national officers exceeded
all expectations by creating opportunities for engagement including
student led roundtable discussions, networking panels, and regional
meetings. And if that is not impressive enough, our national partners
and sponsors rallied and continued to financially support the
competitive events and provide customized content just for NLE
participants.
Ronald W. Pierce
FBLA-PBL Board Chair So, what does all this say about FBLA-PBL? It says that we are a
resilient, courageous community of leaders. It is inspiring to witness
our indispensable chapter advisers go above and beyond to support
their students and make the National Leadership Experience a reality.

Thank you for being the best of the best.

I wish you good health and a summer season filled with family, friends,
and new adventures.
A Message from FBLA-PBL President/CEO, Alexander T. Graham

Dear FBLA-PBL Members,

Advisers, and Friends,
When the decision was made to create an online event, we intention-
ally made a small, but meaningful, change: the National Leadership
Conference became the National Leadership Experience.

The reason for this was that first, and foremost, to replicate the “NLC”
the finale of our FBLA-PBL program year, to the same conference
online would be impossible. We intentionally developed content to
enable our members to seize a world of opportunity to explore, expe-
rience, and engage to meet them where they are. These are the core
membership themes of our three student divisions, and seize it, you
did!

This special edition of Tomorrow’s Business Leader celebrates the NLE,

from all-member events leading up to our online gathering, to the in-
spirational keynotes, to the welcoming of our new National Officers, to
announcement of all our national recognitions and competitive events
winners.

We are committed to continue the nurturing of this direct engage-

ment as we begin a new program year. We are rapidly upgrading our
ability to deliver robust materials and programming for all our divisions
while looking for new opportunities to help our student members
thrive.
Alexander T. Graham
FBLA-PBL President/CEO No matter what challenges like ahead, FBLA-PBL is here for you. The
best is yet to come!

KPMG SOCIAL MEDIA TAKEOVER
and INTERNSHIP PANEL

FBLA is grateful for our national partner, KPMG, for lead-

ing a social media takeover June 22 - 24 on the FBLA
Instagram. During the takeover KPMG focused on shar-
ing their culture, their brand new training and learning
facility, and how you can bring your best in high school
and beyond. Followers also learned about their practices
and virtually met KPMG professionals from all over the
country!

Missed it? Check out our highlights!

Continuing to connect and network, KPMG also hosted

an internship panel for FBLA and PBL members during
which time they gathered college students who recently
went through the networking, interviewing, and intern-
ship recruiting process. The discussion was moderated
by KPMG campus recruiters.

What makes a great
internship?
July 2020

A KPMG internship is a terrific way to learn business skills,

find a mentor, build your network and get real-world (even
global) experience before graduation. And it can often lead
to a full-time job. Discover how an internship can connect
you with the countless opportunities at KPMG.

What makes a great internship? Through a KPMG internship, you can...

Start training: No other Big Four firm offers a consistent national training experience
for all audit, tax, advisory, and business support services interns. You’ll attend training at
KPMG Lakehouse, our state-of-the-art learning, development, and innovation center.
Meet your mentor: Pair up with a mentor who can inspire and guide your internship
and your career.
Build a network: Start growing your professional network by interacting with KPMG
senior professionals and employees worldwide.
Gain experience: By engaging with clients, you’ll become more knowledgeable and
more marketable.
Explore career opportunities: Learn what it’s really like to be an audit, tax, advisory,
or business support services professional... and you may find yourself on the path to
a full-time job offer.

In order to secure an internship, we recommend that you build your resume, network your
way to success, create a virtual brand, and ace the interview. Not sure where to start? Tune in
for the KPMG Virtual Branding U series each Wednesday evening in July at 7:30pm EST. You
can also gain a sneak peek on these topics by clicking here. Please be on the lookout for an
email with instructions on how you can register for the KPMG Virtual Branding U series.

Meet 2020-21 FBLAFBLA
2020-21 National Officers
National Officers
DREW LOJEWSKI (PA)
NATIONAL PRESIDENT
Drew started from the ground up in FBLA, with no physical chapter and few resources.
He placed second at nationals for the Digital Video Production event in 2018, and started
a physical chapter at his school the next year.

Striving to help members that may be in a tough situation like him when he first started
in FBLA, Drew wanted to give back to the FBLA community by serving others. He was
elected as a Pennsylvania state officer, and in 2019, Drew was elected as the Eastern
Region Vice President of FBLA.

HANA LE (LA)
NATIONAL SECRETARY
Hana Le, a senior at Ruston High School, has been an active member of FBLA throughout
her high school career. Hana is a three time chapter officer, was elected as the Louisiana
FBLA State Secretary her sophomore year, and now currently serves as the Louisiana
FBLA State President.

Hana dedicates herself to enhancing the limitless opportunities FBLA provides and
helping members develop their own passions and potentials.

HANEOL LEE (WA)

NATIONAL TREASURER
Haneol Lee will be a Senior at Olympia High School in Olympia, WA. He joined FBLA
purely for the candy. But FBLA gave him tools that changed his life. He enjoys speaking
to middle school students where he inspires them to follow their dreams. But where did
Haneol get his speaking skills?

Through FBLA, Haneol has learned skills he never imagined, such as public speaking,
confidence, passion, dedication, and leadership. Haneol has served as president of his
chapter and as the Executive Vice President of Washington FBLA. Furthermore, Haneol
has served as the National Western Region Vice President and loved meeting members
from all across the nation.

KIANNA BOLANTE (WA)

NATIONAL PARLIAMENTARIAN
Kianna Bolante, a senior at Fife High School, joined FBLA during her freshman year of
high school. She was elected as Washington FBLA’s State Puget Sound Region Vice
President during her sophomore year and currently serves as Washington FBLA’s State
Parliamentarian. During her junior year, she has already completed all levels of the BAAs
and CSAs. Kianna is heavily involved with different organizations that revolve around
parliament such as the Electronic Association of Parliamentarians, the Washington State
Association of Parliamentarians where she was recognized in numerous newsletters,
and the National Association of Parliamentarians where she works within their Youth
Committee to spread awareness about parliamentary authority.
ANDREW FOX (NY) EASTERN REGION VP
Andrew Fox is a rising senior at Little Falls High School in the state of New
York. Andrew has served on the Eastern Region Council as the Executive
Assistant and was recently elected as the New York State President. He has
been part of his State Officer Team since being elected his freshman year.

A few of Andrew’s successes within FBLA include: leading State Meeting’s

within the Eastern Region, Participating in the Eastern Region Leadership
Committee, initiating Instagram Idols within New York FBLA, and increasing
his local chapter membership by 87%.

KAYLIE REESE (KS) MOUNTAIN PLAINS REGION VP

Kaylie Reese, who will be a senior at Wellsville High School in Kansas,
has been a dedicated FBLA member since 2016. Ever since her first State
Leadership Conference, Kaylie knew she wanted to make a difference in
FBLA.

She has served three terms as a local officer, two terms on a national council,
and is in her second term of state office, currently serving as Kansas FBLA
State President. FBLA has given Kaylie an opportunity to not only increase her
knowledge of the business world, but to help and lead others.

RHEA MEHTA (OH) NORTH CENTRAL REGION VP

Rhea Mehta is a senior at William Mason High School in Ohio. She has been
a part of FBLA for two years. She has served as the Webmaster of her local
chapter, the 2019-2020 Ohio FBLA Parliamentarian, and is currently serving
as the Ohio FBLA President. Rhea attended the 2019 National Leadership
Conference and has attended two State Leadership Conferences.

Apart from FBLA, she enjoys participating in public speaking events, National
Honors Societies, learning Indian classical dance, and practicing cello.

MARIA MANABAT (GA) SOUTHERN REGION VP

Maria Manabat, a senior at Ware County High School, has continued to share
her passion for FBLA for over three years at the local, state, and national
levels. Through the programs and opportunities of FBLA, Maria believes
that every member can undergo personal growth and achieve success. In
addition to competitive events, she has shown leadership as Ware County’s
local chapter president, Georgia FBLA’s Region 2 President, and a two-term
National President’s Executive Council member. Currently, she serves as the
Georgia FBLA Southeast Area Vice President.

SACHIN SUNDAR (CA) WESTERN REGION VP

Sachin is a senior at West High School in Salt Lake City, Utah and has been a
member of FBLA for three years. This is his second year as a state officer and he
served as the Metro Region VP from 2019-2020. He is also a member of DECA,
Mock Trial and Peer Court, though most of his energies are devoted to FBLA. Since
he started as the vice president of his local FBLA chapter in his freshman year, he
has worked hard to increase the membership of his chapter and his involvement
grew further after he was elected as a state officer in 2019. He was able to apply his
skills from FBLA to the real world when he presented his business plan to a Shark
Tank at the Sandy Chamber of Commerce.

The 2020-21 Membership Theme is “Aspire” as
announced during the closing celebration of NLE.
to explore.
to experience.
to engage.
to discover.
to learn.
to network.
to understand.
to make an impact.
to fill a need.
to serve.
to be responsible.
to communicate.
to lead.
to the future.
to go higher.

Earlier this spring, we asked chapters to share their suggestions for our guiding theme. Our theme was sug-
gested by an FBLA chapter from Weber High School, under the adviser leadership of Alan Rawlins, stating that
everything an FBLA-PBL member accomplishes and achieves allows one to go higher… and therefore, we ASPIRE.

As we look ahead to the next school year-however uncertain it may appear right now-what we know is that
FBLA-PBL has great things in store. We will be officially launching our Roadmap series to guide members on
their journey; we have strategic partnerships with companies like Facebook, Tallo, and Intuit; and we plan to
offer robust content in all areas of business education. We Aspire to explore, experience, and engage with you.
We aspire for a better future. We aspire to grow business. We aspire to lead.

In using this theme, we encourage chapters to think about the values and actions that define their community
and use them in the discussion and marketing of FBLA-PBL as elements to which to Aspire.

How will you weave the Aspire theme into your program year?
