ABSTRACT

The CS App is a web based application developed in android platform for the Computer
Science and Information Technology department students. The system contains all the
information regarding the syllabus, previous question papers, the links of YouTube videos of
lectures, portable documents format (pdf) notes. The students can also download the
materials as per their needs.. The system is an online application that can be accessed
throughout all the students of Sant Gadge Baba University, Amravati with proper login
provided. This app is also available on Google Play Store, so that students of Sant Gadge
Baba University can download this app and access it on their respective cell phones.
The system can be used for collecting all the information with regards to syllabus details.
This project contains all the details of the all subjects of Computer Science and Information
Technology department that can be viewed by all the users (read only), but can be modified
only by the admin with an authorized service. The students can update their own information
only.
Students can search for the material required on their selective topics. So, basically our
project provides a facility of merging all the study materials under one roof with all the
information to make the process of studying easy and more convenient for studies.
We are dedicating this app to our beloved HOD Hon. Dr. Chetan Shelke Sir. The Name of
our app is derived from the initials of our sir i.e. ‘CS App’.
CS-App

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

The CS App is web based application which is provided to all the students of Sant Gadge
Baba Amravati University of Computer Science and Information Technology department.
This app contains all the study material of both departments. The students can use this app at
any instance time from any place. This app is an attempt to overcome the existing flaws in the
study patterns.
The platform used for developing the app is Android and JSP (web portal) and the database is
MYSQL.
This app includes two major aspects:
1) ADMINISTRATOR: The admin have all the access authorities. Admin can upload,
update and modify the contents of the app.

2) USER: User can access read only the data which cannot be altered. Instead user can
download the material as per his/her requirements.

1.1 MOTIVATION:

As we have seen that while studying students require numerous study materials. But the
required study material is not available under one platform. They have to collect huge
amount of data and sort it according to their need. As this process is quite lengthy and it
takes lot of time. To set the demerits of this study methodology into its merits we are
developing this application.

1.2 AIM:
To design a network for students who can be able to communicate with administrator
through email and share notes, video lectures, pdf and ppts etc. The Administrator will
upload videos, pdfs, previous question papers, etc. The students will access these
uploaded material from their mobile app. The aim behind developing this project is to
provide the required and necessary study materials to the students. This will help them to
study properly and score good marks in examinations.

1.3 OBJECTIVE:

 To provide syllabus.
 To provide previous question papers.
 To provide ppts and pdfs unit wise.
 To provide video lectures
 To provide an open platform to the students who are interested in making their own
video lecture on any topic of the syllabus.
 To make the studying methodology easy and convenient for the students.
 To let the students utilize their more of time in studying instead of searching notes.

1.4 SCOPE:
Student can refer notes, syllabus, question bank in CS APP. Student can login with
registration. Students can download subject ppts, pdfs and video lectures. If student has
subject materials, student can send a ppts, pdf, video lectures to the administrator. The student
does not need to go to another place to refer the notes.

CHAPTER 2
LITERATURE REVIEW

2.1 BACKGROUND HISTORY:

Even though, the world being full of advanced technologies and the drastic amount in the
usage of internet, the students are still using the same ancient ritually going methodology for
study purpose. The students have to struggle hard to collect notes and syllabus and previous
question papers. This work was totally done manually. The required material for the students
to study was not found on the same platform as well. The students have to visit different sites
or have to refer different books and journals for studying.
To overcome this flaws in the methodology of studying, we are developing an android based
application which will make the method of studying more convenient and easier. This
application will provide all the required materials under a single platform. The students will
get the syllabus content, as well as notes, previous question papers and video lectures as well.

2.2 RELATED WORK:

Till now the students were collecting the information from different sources. They used to
refer many Sources for a single topic. To make their study easy, one app has been developed
previously. This app contains the syllabus and question papers. This made the efforts of the
student less as it was providing and question paper on a single platform.

2.3 LIMITATIONS OF EXISTING SYSTEM:

 There is an app available on Google store which have following limitations.

 It only contains question papers and syllabus only.
 User cannot download. There is no downloading function.
 No study materials are available.
 No video lectures.
 No pdf’s and ppts.

CHAPTER 3
PROPOSED SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN
3.1 ANALYSIS:
Due to rapid growth in the usage of internet and technologies associated with it, several
applications are coming up in market. There are many educational applications available in
the market for the students. Each and every application is having different contents and
utilization as well. The applications varies from student to student and from grade to grade.
There are different applications available for schooling students where as numerous
applications available for the under graduates and post graduates as well. Similarly the “CS
APP” is an application for the engineering students of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University
for Computer Science and Information Technology department. This is an attempt to
overcome the drawbacks of the existing study pattern.

3.1.1 PROBLEM DEFINITION:

“To develop an effective solution for the students making the process of studying easy by
providing the necessary materials under a single platform”
The aim of this project is provide useful data of particular subject according to the Sant
Gadge Baba Amravati University content. This Project is going to develop a framework & a
better software solution to the students. Along with this, we are also providing an open
platform for the students no represent their skills.

3.1.2 FEASIBILITY TEST:

 Feasibility is the analysis of risk, cost and benefits relating to economics, technology
and user operation. There are several types of feasibility depending of aspects they
cover importance feasibility is as follows:
 Technical Feasibility
 Operational Feasibility
 Economic Feasibility
Each of the above listed parameters are explained in details as follows

PRPCEM, Amravati\\B.E.(I.T)\\2018-19 Page 6

CS-App

 TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY :
This measures the software requirements. Software used in fronted and backend are java, JSP
and Android and the database is MYSQL. For the front end the PHP is used in the Website
Development. The technically feasibility study basically centres an alternative for software
and design approach to determine the functional aspects of system. This project will manage
the whole college system. The system can also be expanded as per the need of requirement

 OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY:
This measure the actual design and implementation of the system. It contains the detail
information of modules which are used in system. Operational feasibility is the measure of
how people are able to work with system. This type of feasibility demand if the system will
work when developed.

 ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY:
A simple economic space which gives the actual comparison of cost and benefits are much
more meaningful in this case. In addition, this proves to be useful points of reference to
compare actual cost as the project progresses. There could be a various types of intangible
benefits on account of automation.

3.1.3 REQUIREMENT ANALYSIS:

Requirements analysis is the process of defining what the user requires from the system and
defining the requirements clearly and in an unambiguous state. The outcome of the
requirement analysis is the software developing activities. Thus it deals with understanding
the problem goals and constraints. This specification part mainly focuses on what had been
found during analysis. A requirement is a relatively short and concise piece of information,
expressed as a fact. It can be written as a sentence or can be expressed using some kind of
diagram. The function and performance allocated to software as part of system engineering
are refined by establishing a complete information description, a detailed functional and
behavioural description, an indication of performance requirements and design constraint,
appropriate validation criteria, and other data pertinent to requirements.

PRPCEM, Amravati\\B.E.(I.T)\\2018-19 Page 7

CS-App

The proposed system has the following requirements:

 The system need to store the information of the registration.
 The system need to maintain the records.
 The system need to be updating about the syllabus changes and adding up the
question papers.
 The system need to update and delete the records.
 The system also needs to secure the system by providing the access authorities.
 The system need to keep checking the new videos that are sent by the students.

3.2 SYSTEM DESIGN:

3.2.1 BASIC IDEA:
We have developed this application for the students to make their study easy and convenient.
Firstly we have developed the Administrator panel and secondly it’s the User panel.
Administrator’s panel is nothing but the portal, from where the admin can add, remove and
update the application. Admin have all the access authorities. Admin will also check the
videos that are sent by the students. And after verifying the video the Admin will either post
the video on application if it is correct or send a feedback to the student to modify the video if
it needs any alteration. Now the User’s part. The User have 2 access authorities: User can
only edit the Profile module and can only view the other remaining part i.e. User can only be
able to see the Syllabus, notes, previous question papers and videos. User can also create his
own video lecture and send to the Admin if he wish to upload his video as well on the
application.

Proposed Concept:
To increase the student’s performance in academics, we have developed this application. The
User needs to register first by providing the email id and password. After registration, the
User needs to create his Profile by providing his Name, Department, Semester, Name of
College, email ID and Password. After completing the Profile User will get all the needed
data of that particular department and semester. User can only edit the Profile module, other
modules will be in read only format.

4.2 IMPLEMENTATION DETAILS:

At the end of the system design, it is the beginning of actual coding to develop the proposed
system. During development phase, the table the table structure of the database will be first
build in order to provide a suitable data type that suit the system backend development,
system connection and data transfer. Next, the computer side client program will be
developed and followed by will be the web services that allow mobile phone client program
to communicate with the server and lastly mobile phone side client program will be
developed. In testing phase, several test cases will be carried out to test the system in order to
determine the system’s reliability and system accuracy. According to the test cases, a system
testing report will be generated for further review to figure it out the system weakness and
made improvement accordingly. In the deployment phase, several trainings will be provided
for the particular restaurant staff such as how to operate the system, the procedure of handling
different event and several instructions that need to be followed when operating the system.

4.2.1 Implementation Issues & Challenges:

During the system implementation phase, several challenges need to be confront because it
involves end users to test the production system with various situation. The possible
challenges may face are as follows:
 User without background:
The users are required to have basic knowledge of how to operate a computer system
and android mobile phone in order to use the system. This will be difficult to give
training to the user as the basic knowledge information can be obtained from internet
easily.
 The screen size of different devices:
This would be one of the issue that will encounter while implementing the system.
Because user is able to download the mobile application from the official website and
use it as a client device to place order. Therefore, if the user device screens size is too
small or too big. The content and interface of the application may not consistence.
 Server Performance:

PRPCEM, Amravati\\B.E.(I.T)\\2018-19 Page 15

CS-App

During real time system implementation, three would be a huge number of client that
access to the server at the same time. Therefore, it may slow down the connection and
performances of the system and even causes the server down if the issue goes beyond
the level of acceptance.

4.3 TEST PLAN:

After the system has been developed, it will move to system testing phase. In system
testing phase, the developed system is required to install on appropriate devices for
testing purpose. After the system installation has been completed, the system testing
task will be performed by different role of users such as admin role and user role. The
purpose of system testing is to identify and determine the degree of system stability.
At the same time, it is an opportunity given to the developers to figure out errors or
bug that has not been rise and encountered during the system development phase.
Those errors or bugs that has been found during the system testing activities will be
solved before the system release. Each and every testing before system testing phase
is actually tested by the system developer himself. Therefore, it might cause some
biases towards the testing due to the system developer have knowledge about the
system software logics and lead the result to be inappropriate. There are four types of
testing that will be used to test the developed system which includes unit testing,
integration testing, system testing and acceptance testing.

CHAPTER 5
ADVANTAGES OR DISADVANTAGES

As computer and usage of internet has made the life of the people easy, companies from
across the worlds have started to consider the fact that information and knowledge can be
imparted to people using technology. “CS APP” is one such a method in this direction.
5.1 ADVANTAGES:
 The biggest advantage of “CS APP” is that it provides all the study materials under a
single platform.
 It also reduces the need for one to go to specific place to collect notes.
 Students may have the option is select learning materials that meets their level of
knowledge.
 Students can study anywhere they only access to a computer and internet connection.
 It is time efficient application.
5.2 DISADVANTAGES:
 The android mobile user will not be able to insert or view details if the server goes
down. Thus there is disadvantage of single point failure.

PRPCEM, Amravati\\B.E.(I.T)\\2018-19 Page 29

CS-App

CHAPTER 6
CONCLUSION

There are many different application available on play store but they have few demerits
such as some do not contain notes but contains syllabus and previous question papers
rather than some other apps contains only notes or syllabus but no question papers. We are
overcoming with all their drawbacks by developing one app called “CS” app includes all the
information of all subjects of Sant Gadgebaba University Amravati of CSE & IT department in
a single app.

Thus, this is out attempt to help the student by providing all information in a single android
application. Students can download the data whichever they want to download. This will
help them to study conveniently. This app will be very user friendly
