8. Size of business proposed

Size of our business proposed is medium size. It is because our farm can occupy 24000 of quail
one time. So we will be having production of 2000 per week with 8 worker working with us not
including executive worker covering the quail care , processing , marketing and etc.

9
9. System required and its arrangement.
Piping system

We use polyvinyl chloride (PVC) 32 mm. Then, we add another 200 m of pvc for our piping
system. The pipe connected to the pipe provided by the government. Moreover, our farm is
located near the main source of water which is ‘Empangan Timah Tasoh’. So we can get easy
access of clean water. Our pipe system can supply fresh clean water for our use such as cleaning
and provide drink for our quails. Total length of our piping system is 513 m. The life expectancy
of this piping system is 5 – 10 years.

Ventilation system
10
For our project, we used closed system. What is closed system? Closed system is all parts of the
building is closed except the part where the air can move in and out. Closed system need proper
air ventilation. For the ventilation, we used tunnel ventilation system. Tunnel ventilation system
does not use cooling pad. Then, the air move under the roof before enter into the coop. This
ventilation system has eficient air movement with optimum speed of 300 to 450 ft/min.

11
Drainage system

Our drainage system connected between each coop for easy cleaning process. The length of
drainage covering our project is 1161 m. While, the width of the drainage is 0.154 m. The drain
lastly channeled to the pool for water collection. The water from the pool is used for watering the
plants and for recycling. Another function for drainage system is to prevent stagnant water from
our coop. Dirty water can cause many diseases to our quails and reducing our productivity.

12
Fencing system

The main function of fencing is to protect properties from intruder from stealing our things. We
use chain- link fence that is made from steel for long lasting and durable. It is also to prevent
other wild animals form entering our area. The total length of fence covering our farm is 580m.

13
Road system

The main function of road system is to give access to staff and workers. It is also to ease our
vehicle to transport processed quails to customer and retail shops. The road system also allow us
to bring in any new equipment or a new stock of quails. The road system length is 180m with
4.5m width.

14
10. System capacity, production rate.

We have 3 quail coops. The area of the coop 1 is 928 m and the parameter is 166 m. Each coop
will hold 8000 quails. So, the total of quails are 24000. The estimated production rate of quail
meat is 2000 quails for a week. We also have seperate area used for processing. We used rotation
system so that we will have continuous production. For example, the first month we will fill the
first coop with quails followed by second coop on the second month.. On the third month, we fill
the third coop and cleared out the first coop. This process is repeat to maintain our production
and to fullfil customer demand.
