ENGINEER MANAGER
Operations
- refers to any process that accepts input
and uses resources to change those inputs in
useful ways. The transformation process
converts inputs to final goods or services.
-inputs include land, labor, capital and
entrepreneurship.
ENGINEER MANAGER

The engineer manager is expected to


produce some output at whatever
management level he is. If he is assigned as
the manufacturing engineer, his function is to
determine and define the equipment, tools,
and processes required to convert the design
of the desired product into reality in an
efficient manner.
ENGINEER MANAGER

An engineering manager is responsible for ensuring that key projects


and engineering duties are fulfilled. They are responsible for solving any
engineering issue that comes up in a project. A few of the main duties of an
engineering manager are answering technical questions, proposing budgets
for projects, training new employees, and working with various other
departments. They also have to prepare reports on the progress of any
project.
ENGINEER MANAGER

The engineer manager is often times assigned to


performed the tasks of the operations manager.
The engineer, as operations manager, must find ways to
contribute to the production of quality goods or services and
the reduction of costs in his department.

TYPES OF TRANSFORMATION
PROCESS
A TRANSFORMATION PROCESS IS ANY ACTIVITY OR GROUP OF
ACTIVITIES THAT TAKES ONE OR MORE INPUTS,TRANSFORMS AND
ADDS VALUE TO THEM, AND PROVIDES OUTPUTS FOR CUSTOMERS
OR CLIENTS.
Transformation processes include:

• changes in the physical characteristics of materials or customers


• changes in the location of materials, information or customers
• changes in the ownership of materials or information
• storage or accommodation of materials, information or customers
• changes in the purpose or form of information
• changes in the physiological or psychological state of customers.
TYPES OF TRANSFORMATION PROCESS

1. Manufacturing process
Manufacturing process are those that refer to making of products by hands or with machinery.
2. Service process
Services process are those that refer to the provision of services to persons by hand or with
machinery.
3. Transportation process
Transportation process refers to the movement of materials or customers.
4. Supply process
Supply process refers to change in ownership of goods.
SUMMARY:
• The engineer manager is often times assigned to performed the tasks of the operations
manager. The function of an operations manager is to plan, to organize, to direct and to
control operations to achieve objectives efficiently and effectively.
• A transformation process is any activity or group of activities that takes one or more
inputs, transforms and adds value to them, and provides outputs for customers or clients.
