‘Forrest Gump’ is a 1994 American

romantic comedy-drama film centered on the character of

the same name. The movie depicts the life of a slow-witted but kind-hearted man
from Alabama and the maternal love, beautiful fellowships and a simple but sincere love which
are all expressed from short different stories.
Forrest opened up his story by likening his life to a chocolate box. While sitting at the bus stop
and waiting for nothing, he recounted his life story to strangers who sat next to him on a
bench. The way how he told his story was extremely honest, naive and naturally hilarious which
makes the audiences easily approach and grasp the content and meanings of his tale. Forrest is
a intellectually disabled man. He is unable to stand a straight back, walk properly and has to be
fitted with leg braces to correct a curved spine. He lives alone with his mother, who runs a
boarding house that attracts many tenants. On his first day of school, Forrest meets a girl
named Jenny Curran, and the two become best friends. Forrest is often bullied because of his
physical disability and marginal intelligence. While fleeing from several bullies, his leg braces
break off, revealing Forrest to run like the wind. That is my favourite scene. Miracles has
happened to him which is similar to his mother’s saying: “Miracles happen every day…some
people don’t think so, but they do!” Forrest is able to run with a little bit scary beside enormous
enthusiasm after a long time of being chained. This metaphor is open up for Forrest’s rambling
but desirous further life. My favourite saying from the movie is Forrest’s mama’s one: “Life was
like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” His mother’s will helps us to
get at the truth that everything in this life is unknown with fortune or disfortune so just accept
whatever you have in this lives and live a life you will remember. This movie depicts several
historical periods in the 20th century United States through a decent man with an IQ of 75. His
intentions inspired us to greater efforts.
Sometimes I am thinking of whether I am using my time in this world wisely or not. After
watching Forrest Gump I realized that he had achieved something far more important and
useful than mine. That is one of the reasons why I am thankful for this film because I learn to
appreciate the little things in this life even more. What a magical movie.
