These are the only vertebrates

that have hair or fur. Females

produces milk from mammary
glands to feed babies. Air is needed
to breathe. They produce sweat to
cool down when they are too hot.
Most can adjust their bodies to live
in hot and cold weather.

mammal mammal
These vertebrates breathe using
gills to take in air from water.
Instead of arms and legs, they
move around using fins. Most lay
soft eggs that need to hatch in
water, but a few species give
birth to live young. Most cannot
adjust to different temperature.

fish fish
These are the only vertebrates
that have feathers. They all lay
hard-shelled eggs and breathe air.
Most have hollow, light-weight
bones, allowing them to fly. All
species have beaks with no teeth.
They can adjust to warm and cold
temperatures using energy from
their body.

birds birds
These vertebrates have four
limbs (except snakes). Babies
hatch from hard or soft-shelled
eggs, but some species give birth
to live young. They have dry, scaly
skin. Air is need to breathe. They
are cold-blooded, which means
they have to get warmth from
outside their body.

reptiles reptiles
These vertebrates have four
limbs (except caecilians). They lay
soft eggs in water. Babies hatch
with gills and breathe water.
Their bodies change, and most
species grow lungs and live on
land as adults. Their skin stays
damp and coated with mucus.
