    A Compact Electron Linac Using Side-Coupled Structure: Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

    This article proposes a compact electron linear accelerator (linac) using a side-coupled structure. The linac consists of alternating disk-shaped cavities and coupling cavities arranged laterally. Electrons are accelerated as they travel through the disk-shaped cavities, gaining energy from the radio frequency fields. The side-coupled structure allows for a more compact design compared to traditional linacs. In simulations, the structure was able to accelerate electrons up to 10 MeV in a short length.
