Mr.Boris Otter, President and founder of Swiss Space Tourism, Geneva, Switzerland.

He is
Passionate about aviation and space, resigned his job as a professional firefighter to
successfully follow an integrated airline pilot training in 2001-2002, at Swiss Aviation
Training Ltd in Basel.
In 2001 he made a major life decision. He left his full-time job as a professional fireman to
start an Integrated Airline Transport Pilot License course run by Crossair Aviation Training
in Basel. The course was delivered in English and was supposed to guarantee the position of
co-pilot upon completion. In August 2002 he successfully finished everything. However, the
world had changed over these 18 months … They were in the aftermath of September 11; on
October 2, 2001 Swissair was grounded; on November 24, 2001 a Crossair Jumbolino
crashed close to Zürich; and in March 2002 Swissair became bankrupt and was in part taken
over by Crossair, becoming Swiss International Air Lines. At the beginning of training they
were told that all students would be employed after the formation of Swiss International Air
Lines; then they were told it would only be Swiss citizens that would be employed; then it
became clear that nobody would be—600 pilots from Crossair were made redundant to
ensure that Swissair pilots retained their jobs—a string of events that ended his career at that
time! He kept all his licenses valid until 2005, but then realized that the market for young
pilots, with only 500 hours of flight time, was not recruited. However, in 2005 he went to
Canada to pass his seaplane rating, he had the chance to fly a Twin Otter with Maldivian
Airlines. Unfortunately, government intervention meant that only locals would be recruited,
not foreigners. In 2014 he passed his gyrocopter license in France—simply for pleasure.
Then, from April 2016 he made a new goal to work space related. So, over the course of all
those years he became fairly well qualified as:
● Private cosmonaut training and a zero-G flight on board a Ilyushin II-76 MDK in Star City,
Moscow (2016, 2018, 2019).
